I have no problems with plateaus. Just keep working. Just the other day, I cleared 350 on lunges.

Do some squat variations: box squats, pause squats, front squats, goblet squats, high rep 20+ after work sets, zerchers, lunges, step ups, etc.

Always mix it up. Don't fall into a rut. I made that mistake for 6 years.

I wasn't asking to belittle you but techniques and different approaches are required when dealing with lower weight (less advanced/typically new or uncoached) and higher weight (advanced and know the usual programs)

O yea, no offense taken.

Much different from a person doing 300 ( could just work on technique and getting proper shoes and instantly add 20-30 lbs) and 600 (who probably already know technique)

Absolutely. I got a buddy right at 450 and he gets ecstatic if he gains like 10 on his squat in a couple months haha.

I think if it is a mental issue, do box squats in a power rack. Get use to the weight and work on the explosive part off the box without worrying about the bar since you have the rack.

Work on your core and deadlift as well. Also, consider pushing up on the bar with your arms like an overhead press to help your lower body get the weight. Squats are an entire body exercise.

I'd suggest trying smolov

Or alternating between front squats/zercher/overhead squats or other variations for secondary lifts.

Maybe even add some box jumps and other plyometric ; if you do this perform the jumps first as plyos are more neurologically demanding than squats.

You for sure don't want to sit down on the box and eat a lunch before driving off.

I've read-up on smolov, and it states it should only be done by people with like 350+ squats. It talks about how individuals with squats below that simply can't handle it.

I'm gonna try the box squats. I think it's a mental/comfort thing like people are saying. My deadlift is pretty respectable and much higher than my squat.

If he's really serious, I would say smolov. A good friend did it because he torn his bicep, forced to workout legs only. A few months after his training cycle, now has the 4th highest squat in his class nationally. Also, read up on depth jumps.

True.

I just assumed your squat was that high already.

If you're plateauing already then a huge part is mental.

Pause and box squats is what you need. I'd even suggest zercher squats for assistance.

Lay off the bodybuilding curls and extensions for a few weeks.

I like pause squats, but you have to be careful with core strength. Make sure you can stay tight at the bottom. I know a guy in his mid thirties got a bulging disk from relaxing at the bottom of the pause

Seriously try reverse hypers if you have an issue with core strength. It will do wonders.

Here is a good read. No you don't need Louie Simmons machine to do them, but this guy knows his shite
LINK

Most gyms don't have them but yoke safety squat bars will help build up your core and strength out of the hole like crazy as well
