However, they said that it is mainly for the employees with children who are affected by the school closures.

I'm 23 and do not have any kids. Would I be a shitty employee if I still used these up?

You should sue them for discriminating against you for not having kids

If they offered it, use it. But seems kinda pointless to only offer half the time necessary

Yes. It aint fair but life aint fair sometimes. be a good employee and work when you can. It'll show them you're valuable if a recession kicks in and they need to start axing people.

they didnt even offer half the time, more like a quarter of it.
It really blows my mind how they are practically refusing to let anyone work from home

No, they will keep the employees with kids because they "need the money more."

My company put out an announcement reminding people that normal PTO and sick time guidelines apply and it's not changing unless you test positive for COVID-19. Wise choices for a company that has traveling foreigners pass thru the doors every single day.

you could use your own. They are just giving you a weeks pay.

Seems like a nice move.

That's their way of trying to make you feel bad so you don't take off. Legally they have to offer it to every employee. Use it - frick dem

Don't have much of an opinion without knowing the industry, but that wouldn't be my course of action

it was a nice gesture for sure, but im also worried about the co workers with kids who are stuck.
The kids are off for four weeks while they're only giving out one weeks worth of PTO. I mean just give everyone a laptop and let them work and earn their money from home without having to worry about coming into the office

Depends, do you wanna hang out at home for a week?

Or maybe tel them you’re helping to watch your nephew and need Fridays off for the next 5 weeks.
