Was perusing the crime section of the Advocate and I saw a 21 year old female charged with the following:

quote:

first-offense DWI, failure to maintain control, resisting an officer and battery of a police officer.

Got me wondering what exactly would constitute "battery of a police officer"? Could it be something as minor as a little shove? Or would the drunk young lady have had to actually somehow cause harm to the officer?

Sounds like the young lady was an angry drunk.....speculation on what the sum of these crimes would add up to in terms of pumishment?

Very hard to argue that logic...

I'm just curious as to what kind of battery a drunk 21 year old female committed on a cop...liquid courage must have been on blast.

I'm wondering this myself. I come to the OT because there is always someone here who knows the scoop, no matter what the story is. I didn't post the girl's name but it's easily found on the Advocate website. Surely someone knows...

Nor nearly as bad as the penalty for a 21 year old guy with the same charges would be

What the hell is levo.com?

Unless she really tried to hurt the cop, it'll probably be dropped if she pleads to the DWI. If she actually swung at him or something, she probably would have been charged with assault on a officer which would have been worse.

Battery is unwanted touching. If you poke somebody in the chest with your finger that could be considered battery.

About 10 or 12 years ago a buddy of mine got a DWI and two counts of battery of a police officer for bone cussing the arresting officers. Both cops were white but that didn't stop him from calling them the no-no word, apparently over and over again. They eventually dropped the battery charges but only after he spent a fortune on a lawyer and sweated out six months thinking he was going to prison. I told him he was lucky he didn't post bond from the hospital.

Are you that sheltered? Battery can be anything from a high knee to the leg or a punch to the jaw. I'm not sure what you are trying to figure out here because the only people that know what happened are her and the cop. Even then, her version is when she's shitfaced and the other is well...a cops side

Yep, when you get to court there is the cops side and his partners side. Trust me, I know.

Considering how most women are brought up thinking it's perfectly acceptable to physically attack a man when they're angry, do you doubt she probably attacked the officer?

I've done a lot of cussing, but I've never heard of a bone cussing.

What's the etymology?
