Why has no one tried your theory before?
People do it all the time. Doing it once is not a problem. Its the people that do it over and over and over that get caught. Its not like they have drug sniffing dogs on boats.
I'd be surprised if the cartel really cared that much about the drugs here. It is cash they care about, the drugs cost them almost nothing to make and they have tons of it. Cash it what they really kill people over.
Given that, if I was related to them I'd be hiding right now.

It's interesting reading about Australia's trouble with the drug trade. There was an Aussie girl caught with pounds of weed in Indonesia a couple of years ago, and she swore up and down that someone put it in there unknowingly. Unfortunately at the time smuggling weed into Indonesia was a capital offense, and she was convicted and placed on death row for a short time IIRC.
There was a whole documentary on HBO about it called Ganja Queen.
Long story short I wouldn't be surprised if someone used them as unknowing drug mules. It appears to be a trend over there.

Unknowingly? These girls were on a 2 month around the world vacation and the both work at a clothing boutique. You think they saved up until they were 23 to afford that trip? Or do you think that was part of the deal as cover for being a mule? Open your eyes.
