frankly I like some grass on the field but, just like a beard it should be kept clean and groomed not just allowed run wild. The pits I could do without but wouldn't be a showstopper if everything else was aligned.
I'm sure we've all experienced malodorous muff but in my experiences that's been exceedingly rare. That's not to say there's a bit of musk retained even when scrupulously clean but within limits I like that.

It's becoming very common. When my students have free dress, quite a few wear sleeveless shirts and have Buckwheat in a headlock.
