Also, remember that the water is totally toxic. It's more like sludgy poison from the smoke-belching factories at the top of the river, swirled together with the pesticide and fertilizer run-off from farms in the Mississippi River watershed... it's a funky, nasty brew. That does not seem like a good idea to dunk yourself in.
I came across the source of this when I went down the Mississippi River rabbit hole. It is a random person’s comments from some trip review site. After that she suggests a number of pools to swim instead of the river while visiting New Orleans.

No, more like first responders dispatched to report of person in the water near the aquarium. Jackass.

This shite can't be real.....I'd highly doubt it at normal river levels much less now.

I swam the river as a teen back in the 70's and it's a serious event. It was a stupid thing to do. We drifted very far compared to that line she swam on. I would say IF that was her true entry and exit points, she's a bad mamma jamma. I could see how the full flow of the river would not be until she got 1/2 way but that river is still moving quick. IMPRESSIVE she is.

It was. Someone joked earlier in the thread that NOPD was still investigating the river by the aquarium and wouldn't get to the Algiers side til hours later. That is funny but basically how it happened. All first responders were sent by the aquarium for a water rescue. They initially saw her heading down river toward Poland Ave wharf, not realizing initially that she was attempting to swim across.
They began to ask for resources to respond to that area when they realized she was going all the way across. She ignored life rings being thrown to her. By the time responders were thinking Algiers point, she was out of the water before anyone got there.

LSUcajun77 is a NOFD, I wonder if he can shed some light on this.

I'm sure he can, but he is not on that platoon. His shift got off at 7am that morning. Unless I'm just making that up too.

I have no idea why you would know that and I don’t wanna know.
I’m sure he can verify if this actually happened or not and give more details.
There’s supposed a video on Facebook but I’m not friends with the guy that posted it and he has it set to private.

Let's see, why would I know the details of what happened and that lsucajun77 was not on duty yesterday? Hmmmm? Tough one.

yeah that is why there are no huge catfish, or fish of any kind in the river.

I have no idea who you are. Are you the guy that posted the video on Towboaters Facebook group?

okay. Apparently he was the Capt on the boat that tried to help her
Posted on 6/10/19 at 7:29 pm to 16Capt
Maybe I missed it but did you record it or take some pics?
Posted on 6/10/19 at 7:32 pm to tgrbaitn08
Nope. Why would I know anything about lsucajun77 if I was on one of the boats?

Why weren’t there any NOPD officers waiting for her to get out?
What would they arrest her for?
