The person driving the float will probably be given a breathalyzer. I hope he passes
Do you guys think these float drivers are just guys they grabbed off the street at the start of the parade?
These aren't guys new to this job, they are all experienced in what they do

I'm glad that person added so many cry emojis to her post. It really let's me know how emotional she feels.

My friends dad rides in Bacchus and he's helping with things on the floats every weekend leading up to the big day.
Im sure every Krew differs a tad however with the exception of the truck parade floats, Im willing to bet that no one is required to show up periodically to "work on floats" All of the Krews are handled by float builders (kern Massey etc) They are either Krew owned in their own dens, or at the float builders Dens. I rode in Both Bacchus and Endymion for over 10 years. The only work days we ever had were one day for Endymion that was volunteer based to help with putting some extra racks for beads/troughs on the floats. members were not allowed to screw or bolt into the float, only show and Kern would make the modifications. As stated, Im sure the captains Lts had a larger role but we never had to help build/decorate any float as they are built and decorated by. only other thing was throws, you could buy through the Krew and have them load, Order through bead companies and have them load, or could do all of the above andload anything else personally or you could just load all of your items on 3 -4 days scheduled before the parade

I have a sauce that rode in Nyx last night and she said the krewe is having an emergency meeting tonight to try to figure out a way for the ladies who were on the floats that got stuck behind the accident last night to have a chance to ride.

My mom rides in Selene in Slidell tomorrow night and they’re working on having some Nyx riders ride with them.

They can find floats. Big issue is going to be finding tractors to pull them, and drivers to drive the tractors.
Assuming they can... have the floats roll, without marching units, before Proteus on Monday.
Get the city to waive the rule on costumes / masks, as my understanding is some of them may be lost after all the chaos last night.

Do people really care that much that they get a chance to ride in a parade? Life's not fair ... who gives a shite?

you realize it costs thousands to ride in one of these parades, considering throws, costumes etc?
that doesn't take into account the time people spend getting ready to ride.

Stop. You’re asking people to deal with life. Not fair.

When you paid a couple to a few grand for it? Uh yeah.

Why don’t they just waive their fees for next year and be done with it? Viola

Can’t you be both: respectful that someone lost their life AND upset that the parade you spent thousands of dollars and a lot of time prepping for was canceled at the last second?? Not sure why this is controversial

Neither of those would happen.
