Woman Kills Another Woman Over a Man in Houma

Sheriff Jerry J. Larpenter states that on July 12, 2017 Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office Detectives arrested a 21 year old female identified as Miranda Gilley from Belmere Apartments for one count of Second Degree Murder.
?At approximately 10:46pm on July 11, 2017, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a subject that had been stabbed outside Belmere apartments. Once on scene, deputies located a female later identified as Jessica McGehee suffering from multiple stab wounds. Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office deputies attempted CPR until paramedics from Bayou Cane Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance arrived on scene. Acadian Ambulance Service transported McGehee to Terrebonne General Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased.
?Deputies quickly took Gilley into custody without incident. Throughout the investigation, it was learned that McGehee and Gilley were involved in an argument over a male companion when McGehee was invited to the apartment complex to fight. McGehee arrived with another female, identified as Ashley Pitre when McGehee, Gilley, Pitre and Gilley’s mother, Miranda Swartz all began to fight. McGehee and Gilley were separated.
While being separated, Gilley pulled a knife from her pants pocket and when the two began fighting again, Gilley stabbed McGehee multiple times.
?Gilley has been arrested for one count of Second Degree Murder. Pitre and Swartz were also charged with disturbing the peace by Fighting.
