I'm shocked. You never get in between two fighting dogs.
I've always heard you're supposed to get the water hose out.... or is that when they are locked up otherwise, i can't remember
Wheelbarrow the dogs, Rip them away by their back legs. It disorients them completely and throws them off balance. That's what I've heard

He did not k ow they were bobcats as he wasn't an outdoor enthusiasts. His young kids found them abandoned at the rest stop and wanted them. He was not very smart thinking they were domesticated kittens.
As they kept growing he asked my grandpa who was a heavy outdoor hunter and enthusiasts to come over and take a look at the cats. Once he saw them he told him bluntly, "You have two Bobcats Larry, good luck". Guy freaked out but his kids loved them.
He kept them and they became great pets bit stalked visitors like prey I was told from the story.
Intelligence with animals and learning your breed of animal and their habits/personality.
There must be some responsibility placed on the human element in these cases and not decide to kill a breed of animal because they are dangerous.

These threads and stories are weird to me. I’ve been around pits all my life and only had a problem with one, but that one was raised to be aggressive by some dumbass. Owned a few, dogsat a few when I was younger and never had my face mauled or a family member murdered.
Maybe I’m lucky or maybe the people in these situation are doing dumb shite idk.

Ideally, a dog fight should be broken up by two people. A method called "the wheelbarrow" is the safest one to use. Each person grabs a dog's back feet and lifts them off the ground. After a moment, the dogs should disengage and each person must pull their dog by his back legs away from the other. It is crucial to separate them immediately to allow for recovery time.
I have a Lab/Boxer mix but ok bro. I wasn't making a comment against Pits but you are making owners of them look bad today

I'm hijacking this thread to focus on the awesome dogs of the OT instead of POS dogs.
he was having a bad hair day from the water. he's actually gorgeous, and I'm not just saying that because he's my child. lol. some form of shepherd mix. dunno. he was born under a barn in Monroe, Ga on Christmas Eve. He's 7 now and has a gray beard, but he was the cutest puppy I'd ever seen.
This one was a month after we'd found the non-pit 10 miles down a FS road near Little River Canyon, AL. Some Bama trash had abandoned her. She was emaciated. We made her carry her own pack backpacking though. nothing's free 'round here.
bonus outdoors--best camping dogs ever:
yes, i take too many pics of my dogs

I don't understand why this concept is so difficult for some people to understand.
1) Not all pit bulls will kill someone
2) Just because your pit bull hasn't killed or maimed someone does not preclude that species from killing or maiming people at a rate that far exceeds other dog species
Seems pretty straight forward to me.

Because people can relate more to personal experiences than actual facts. It's tough for some to go against their own personal experiences, which are tied to their emotions, than to look at the facts from an objective point of view.

Pitbull owners are a lot like certain grandmothers that believe their precious grandsons were on the way to community college.
Denial.
Denial.
