Good. These welfare leaches deserved to be shamed.

It absolutely is the churches job. We can bicker back and forth about whether it is also the governments job but the Bible is pretty darn clear that the church (community of Christians) is supposed to be caring for the poor.

The Welfare Cadillac story is an invention brought by conservative politicians that poor white people eat up and claim they see it all the time.
I'll give you one of many examples I've experienced.
Employed a white lady that drove a new Hummer H2. Seemed to be doing ok, made a decent salary.
Turns out she was bilking a few assistance programs: SNAP, always had 3-4 "foster" children for the extra benefits. Don't remember the others.
Ate like a pig, very poor health. Smoked like a freight train.
How do I know all of this? Because she came to me begging for a loan. Took out a sheet of paper and made her document all income and expenses. All of them.
She finally cracked and fessed up to her system. Told her to quit smoking, sell the Hummer and make better lifestyle choices.
She was fired a week later for stealing from a coworker.

frick that. I pay taxes. Taxes fund welfare. I'll fricking judge if I wanna judge.

You clearly have no perspective of what hard times means to some people. If people like you were in charge the poor and the indigent would be executed or at best be left to starve on the street. You don't even try to understand that the fact that you had the opportunity to learn a marketable skill is an advantage that some people don't have. You are too arrogant to understand that but for the grace of God that could be you. I'm not saying that's this guy. Or there aren't people taking advantage. But you don't know that either. Or I guess according to you you do already know everything.
No I definitely understand what hard times mean to people - and for those who go through it maybe government asisstance is needed. But, are you actually trying to state that a large amount of the recipants don't absue the system? If so, then you are naive and foolish at minimum. As far as your comment on me having the "advantage" of learning a marketable skill, I call bullshite once again, it that same old "I'm just born dumb and helpless" sentimentality that has steady increased within our country since the 1960s when LBJ created government handouts with little to no vetting process for applicants. Also, my Christian faith and conscience would not allow me to pass someone on the street, without rendering help, that was honestly trying to provide for themselves but couldn't. I don't profess to know everything, or even know a lot of things, but I can be honest with myself and the world around me. So when I say that most welfare recipients can get out there and earn their way, it because most people know it to be true, they just can't bring themselves to openly state it because them or someone they know has leveraged the system at some point. By the way, just curious, how old are you?

No shite but you sure as hell still don't qualify for food stamps with just you and a kid making that much in any state. Plus nobody that works that much only makes minimum wage. Lets say this loser worked in your state and only make $9 an hour which any idiot can make, if he did even if he was supporting a family of 3 and was the only one working he wouldn't qualify.
I've already explained a scenario where this could happen to someone, but you don't give a frick. Your drug abuse is just as detrimental to society, so I could give a frick what you dumb arse has to say about much of anything.

Pretty funny she's attacking this guy while shopping at a business that gets subsidized with $6.2 billion US tax dollars each year.

I couldn't really hear the audio, what were her arguing points? Was she going off on the things he was buying with food stamps?

That guy in the video shouldn't be above learning how to weld. Welders make damn good money. Of course I still think if he is working as many hours as he says he and his kids mom aren't married and that is how they are cheating the system.

There's no possible way you live in BR and don't see this. I used to work in NBR and saw this daily getting plate lunches at the Winn Dixie on Airline

That's a pretty broad brush. Nothing wrong with using it temporarily as long as it isn't being abused.

That's my qualm.

I hate people like that. I mean I bitch enough about freeloaders, but I do so behind my keyboard I would never confront one to their face.

Anybody making minimum wage is not going to be given the green light to put in 16 hours of OT a week. If that was the case, the company would be paying more than minimum wage. Let's get that little detail out the way, first and foremost.
Nobody said he was working 56 hours/week on one job, OT genius.

Its hilarious that 90% of this board claims to be conservative and yet in this thread most people are all about food stamps. No wonder the people of Louisiana act all conservative about everything and then they go ahead and elect a total welfare liberal as governor that they bitch about. Bunch of clowns that are all talk.
If the guy would have been black this thread would have been totally different. The conversation would have went from "he fell on hard times" "she doesn't know his story" to "blah blah welfare king" "if Obama had a son" "blah blah typical black people" "this is the problem with black folks"

I'm in and out of section 8 houses all the time. I see 80" tvs in houses that are being rented for $10 a month. New cars and cars with rims. I don't see new Cadillacs all the time but I have worked in houses that look like they could collapse at any minute and had never been cleaned, yet had a benz out front. I know for a fact that most of the urban mentality is based on showing off what you got. In school coming up the poor kids seemed to have the more expensive shoes. Most white parents weren't buying 13 year olds $200 pair of shoes.
There definitely seriously is a problem with the spending habits of many poor people. It's a damn shame that in high school we don't have a class just on making kids experts on IRS forms. Then another class on balancing checkbooks and building credit through proper utilization and lastly classes on the importance of building wealth and having diversified savings and rainy days funds. All of those would be so much more beneficial that Home Ec or most other electives.
You can't tell people what not to buy, but I do think it's crappy that someone can buy a new car and still be on section 8. Seems to me you could buy a used car and rent then. This is not a false phenomenon.

I think it would have been half and half. Which is still a problem. But I think there are people out there smart enough to see past the racial aspect. I didn't even watch the video as stuff like that is cringeworthy to me. I didn't even realize the race of the welfare guy (I didn't read much of the thread either).
I think a lot of the race part is just due to where it's "seen" most. I don't think people realize that it is a majority white people on welfare. But, I've never seen a "free cell phone" tent in the parking lot of a convenient store outside of a predominately black area. I'm smart enough to realize that there are just as many white people abusing that system, but it just seems to be "visible" in some black communities. Again, not right, and people would be stupid much like this woman for jumping to conclusions, but I think that's where it stems from.

Or you could be like my wife and call me at work an bitch about the skank in front of her in line wearing the designed clothes, shades ,carrying the expensive hand bag and using food stamps. I told her to cut the bitch steal our tax dollars back.. She wasn't amused.
