His suspicions were confirmed when he realized the plate was actually made out of cardboard and poorly painted to resemble a New York license plate. Schwieckert also didn't have registration or insurance.

A for effort though. She could have printed a high resolution image but instead opted for some paint. If it weren't for the blue being 1 shade off I would have never known it was fake.

There are a ton of New York hipsters here in western NC. The blue should be black. And with the technology available today, I would give her a D-. The only reason she doesn't get an F is just the pure bravado of thinking that was going to fly.

For shits and giggles one day I printed a high res LA inspection sticker before and taped it on after a failed inspection for a large windshield crack. Completely fooled a State Trooper friend of mine who told me LE is trained to spot the fakes. Told me it fooled him because it was overcast and the reflective portion would have been a giveaway in the sunlight. But that lady is ballsy for putting that shitty license plate on the road
