All of the "didn't happen, don't believe it" people are clinging desperately to their vision of NOLA that is long gone.

It’s just hard to believe that NOPD was on the scene making the arrest.

That's not it at all. I have no problem admitting that you can be a victim of a crime or witness one at anytime of day in NOLA, I just have a problem with people making up stories about it on the OT.

Don't worry - most carjacking data is reported by NOPD so I'll keep an eye out for one being reported on 5/15

Carjackings in NOLA are so commonplace they rarely make the news. Someone usually has to end up dead or severely injured to render it "news worthy".

I'll believe it once I see it reported. No way the perp gets arrested & it's not reported. NOPD database is only showing crimes from 5/13 so far.
Give it a day or two & we will know if OP was lying or not.

He butchered the streets - but it’s hit the news and many of the comments here do not match the mugshot

Happened at Carondelet and gravier, so that Hampton inn/jos a banks, etc… did end at poydras and Carondelet

So OP was talking about St. Charles/Poydras? Did ole girl make it around the whole block riding on top of the hood?

According to report, she went for quite a ride (about 3 blocks). LINK

My apologies for not believing OP, but there are multiple angles of this story that were hard to believe without proof. Perp is white, repeat offender(recently charged for another carjacking on april 1), lady jumped on the hood of the car & didn't die, cops actually caught the guy.

Yea that's it. He turned right onto St. Charles, then right again on Poydras.

We were walking down Union street, to turn left onto St. Chalres to head to the quarter. Right when we were heading that way is when we saw it.

She was on the hood the entire time I saw everything.

Girl on Facebook posted a picture of a Jeep Cherokee that was riddled with bullet holes, in what she describes as her supposedly safe neighborhood. Apparently someone followed her neighbor home from the club and shot up his vehicle and the surrounding houses. In NOLA of course.

While rare, the OT all whiffed on that one.

Kind of like the street race/stunt people

Now who’s being sassy?

Look, it’s quite rare that a woman would jump on the hood of her car when an armed robber is in the act of stealing it.

However, I’ve seen crazy domestic fights where a woman jumps on the hood to:
1) try to keep her b/f from driving off
2) try to keep her b/f from taking a car he “bought for her”
3) avoid getting run down by a pissed off b/f

I don’t actually know what happened. I wasn’t there. That’s the only reason I asked if there were more details and exactly how the OP knew it was a carjacking.

While hoodrat youths are by far the most trouble-causing folks in Nola, gutter punks are a big nuisance too. They've been doing a lot of the car break-ins/robberies in the lower Quarter/Marigny/Bywater.
