I lives in a duplex on State St. for a year. Place was a total shithole but rent was only $380 total for a 2BR.
Then two years at Plantation Trace. 4BR/2BA for $800 total.
Rent has exploded.

I think that's the one that is tucked back there off Highland.. almost like on campus grounds. Right by the LSU W. Campus apartments.
I could be thinking of the wrong place though.

I'd live on Chimes street before I lived on State street.
ETA: Didn't Carlotta used to run into Chimes street? How long ago did they block it off? And why did they? The bridge is still there. I've walked across it many times.

I dated a girl who lived their during my sophomore year. It wasn't that bad then. But with each passing year it just looks really rundown. But that could be said about a number of places around LSU (The Cottages being a perfect example)

if i could find the maintenance guys from the commons 02-04
lol. oh man the sterling guys must have hated us. so much crap got broken it was ridiculous. had the front door replaced because it got kicked in. microwave was destroyed because the timer was broken and my roommate popped popcorn for 2 hours one night when he was drunk. had to get the carpet completely redone because the steam cleaning people laughed when they came to clean it. we had so many neighbors complain about us but luckily my roommate dated a girl in the front office so we avoided eviction or whatever they could do to us.

I've been to a few people's houses on Aster. One girl who used to do my hair was living there for some reason. It was such a bad experience.
The house wasn't "messy", but it had clearly never been cleaned with cleaners and that kind of thing. So everything just felt old and bleh. I almost died when she asked me to wash out my dye leaning over her bathtub that had holes in it.
Some creepy man 10x our age waltzed in at one point to drop off what I'm pretty sure were needles
I used to have a lot of friends with the dirty hippie vibe going on (no idea why), so I've been in some really odd places. I remember spending hours at some party on Ivanhoe one night. I don't know if I'd dare do that now.

I had friends who lived in Sharlo from like 2010-2013 and that was pretty scary too.
Although not the same as the actual back of TL.

outside of the DTL era, sharlo was poppin until Katrina and the cultcha immigration
it was always great when a few house parties were going on at once

I lived in Sharlo until 2010. It was fine then.

And that place is 6.5 years old
I really thin it'll be torn down before 2030. It's prime land, and those places will be run the frick down in basically like 5 years. Not to mention the management there is just awful. Mix all of that with the increasing apartments going up all around that Ben Hur/Burbank area, and I just don't know how long that place can last.
Also, I'm pretty sure a few of the new places on Burbank going up right there are all the same parent company as The Cottages. It seems a bit weird they're basically competing against their own complex.

sharlo was OK but you had literally the ghetto and little Mexico next door by that point
i remember when we were told not to walk to tigerland through sharlo b/c of all the drama

The Cottages are just weird. I've heard their pool is nice.. and they were the first of the new set of student apartments we got in that area.. but they look like freaking slave cabins As much as the idea of being in individual homes appeals to me, they look really odd.
Anyone live in Summerwood (rental homes.. I think the neighbor was even gated?) during college? They were nice looking, but I've heard they're getting pretty bad now. I think someone was shot recently.

are the cottages expensive?

Pied Piper on Alvin Dark and Teakwood Village in 98-99. Awesome times in those shitholes.

We used to hold it down at Parker Place on the corner of highland and Parker
Posted on 1/25/16 at 10:45 pm to SlowFlowPro
Yeah I wasn't walking to Tigerland. The townhome we were in was in a prominent location so we didn't deal with the issues that some of the people did that backed up to the ditch.

Yea, the management at The Cottages has been shite for a while now and it was pretty obvious that they rushed to build those as quickly as possibly.
Honestly, if I was a freshman at LSU nowadays. I'd try to swing for living in one of those new apartments on E Boyd Dr (The name escapes me).
