Yea, but both of my parents growing up had jobs that didn't let them off of work when things like this happened, so thats probably where my misunderstanding stems from.
I forget that 75% of this board is still in school and has never worked a REAL day of work in their lives. Man I'm old

Don't care about college classes being canceled, what pray tell about Central schools?

Where did you drive to Friday? The traffic was terrible in most places

It isn't like they're getting free vacation days. Why would you put people on the road in dangerous conditions if it wasn't necessary? I expect my company will close some locations entirely Tuesday, some mid day Tuesday, and open later on Wednesday.
I'll probably be working from home both days as long as a I have power, but I don't deal with customers so it isn't a big deal anyway.

That was such a weird morning.
I think it was worse than people expected. (Sounds familiar.) And then the snow kicked back up hard around 8 am after school started.
LSU didn't close because it was the last day of finals. There was no way to make that up.
I seemed kinda like Friday. There was a lot of talk that we could get some snow but it didn't seem likely. Then those last few hours everthing just shifted our way. I remember my dad waking me up and to tell me to look out the window and the entire backyard was white.
Of course my parents made me go to school still but less than half the school showed up. They realized that after 2nd hour and then just had everyone hang out in the gym until our parents came to pick us up.

Houston shut down too. Whole crap load of car wrecks and shut down highways.
Looks like we are going to get that same weather again.

Keep in mind that the winter system thats rolling in will be completely different from what we got Friday.

exactly. Some people have important shite to do and need to drive somewhere, I get that. But if you can stay home on days like Tuesday, then you need to stay home. The fewer cars on the road, the fewer accidents.

Also, some posters in this thread aren't considering the number of people who commute to LSU's main campus. I can remember the shitshow on campus back in '08 when they didn't cancel classes.
I had a calc final that morning and don't remember the traffic being particularly bad. Maybe I just have a bad memory though.

What I noticed Friday is that it's hard as shite to go anywhere in this town without crossing a bridge or overpass. Roads you don't even think about go over a small stream or something.

the chance of snow is much higher and we may very likely have an ice storm

when's this snow supposed to hit, tuesday during the day?
Is LSU closing tuesday a real possibility or does it just look like its going to be wednesday?
