Yea, I get that, but that, to me is not a very good reason. If you hold class on tue and wed not that many people are showing up anyway. It's not like its a big deal for most students to miss a class or two. If you don't want to go to class then don't go to class, but at least they wouldn't have to worry about making the classes up.
no, just no. They shut the interstates down in BR last Friday due to the weather. Some students wouldn't be able to make it to class due to road closures and its not fair to them to have class.

Turn into the slide if you hitice.

I have seen this relentlessly over the last week. Educate me. What do you do besides general stuff like slow down, more space?
That's the problem. The chuckleheads in BR can't even get those two simple things right. Trying to teach the fricks that actually learned to drive in Baton Rouge something like how to drive in a skid is like trying to teach Calculus to a slug.
If I were forced to bet on which one would figure it out first, my money would be on the slug.

Or just stay at home and chill because the roads never ice here so don't go out.

you could print this out and send it to every driver in the state and still have tons of wrecks.
People down here can't drive PERIOD
Snow/Ice only exacerbates the situation

What about students that won't be able to make the make up classes? Is it fair to them?
In the end I understand why they are canceling class, but LSU seems a little quick on the trigger to cancel class when they don't need to sometimes.

Faculty and staff still have to get there too. They'd be wasting their time and safety if no one shows up.

Let's just start with those two.

There have been numerous quotes in this thread saying that LSU waits until the last minute to make calls.

Seriously? They've always seemed pretty conservative in doing that. They didn't decide to cancel class on Friday until 6 a.m. that day.

Well there were no classes last friday so this makes sense. I'm talking about other employers around baton rouge. Are the employers that require their employees to report to work going to be held liable if that employee gets into an accident on the way to work? Not a chance
I don't know about liability but many will not put their people in harm's way. It's really no different than reporting in the aftermath of a hurricane or closing/leaving early prior to it. Some essential people will have to report, some places by their nature will have to open, but there will be a lot of people off work.

LSU is not interested in fairness. They're interested in safety.

Plus opening counts as a whole day, even if they close at noon.
So no make up for that day.
(If they are like the schools in EBR)

Most would hopefully cancel class just like most will do when the make up classes are scheduled.

That couldn't be further from the truth.

WTF? I graduated five years ago and still notice that they're the last to cancel in times like these.

Then why not just cancel class school-wide? Some professors would still not do make-up days anyway.

LSU cancelled class at 5:30 on Friday morning
