We use to spend weekends often. Haven't been in 5+ years, only live 90mins away, and don't plan to ever go back.

I stopped going for fun years ago. I come in to see family and get the hell out. Won’t affect me one bit.

NOLA doesn't need terrorism to be dangerous. It's bad on its own. And I also won't hold NOLA responsible for this, even with the street barricade issue. That would be like staying away from New York City because of 9/11 or Vegas because of that mass shooting.

Nope, not during daylight. The Karens here will all lock themselves in their garages.

No the safest time is right after the tragedy with all the extra security now. Lighting doesn’t strike twice.

My goal is to avoid that shitshow of a city to begin with. This event just solidifies my thought process

My wife grew up in New Orleans and moved to BTR when she was in her early 40's because it had gotten so bad. She has only returned 4 times since her mother died in 2005 and not in 15 years

I don’t go to New Orleans ever. I see no reason to even go there even before this. I used to go in the early 80’s and hung out on Bourbon all the time. Never felt threatened in any way back then. Last time I was there was the night before the 2003 NC game with Oklahoma and LSU. I can imagine that last nights crowd was similar as then. It was packed to the gills.

Might be too late by then.

No. It will not move the needle. I stopped going there years ago and I miss it. But not enough to go back.

We decided to do a weekend trip there later this year specifically in response to this attack. You can't let these fanatics win. Most likely will be the weekend of the South Carolina-LSU game.

I agree. Go and have fun.

I get what you are trying to do, but it almost sounds like you wait for an attack then plan a trip there specifically.

The absolute only reason I ever visit Nola is to go to a Pelicans game or LSU game if they play in the Sugar Bowl or stupid season opener.
Now that the Pelicans are trash, unless LSU ends up in Nola for something. I ain't going back.
This terrorist attack didn't change that. Car break ins and the local crime did.

It’s one of three thousand reasons why NO sucks

I only go now for the airport and cruise terminal. Used to love going to Bourbon but now it’s a bunch of culture blasting ghetto trash music from their cars. Oh how times have changed.

I’m fine with being here in new Iberia it’s dangerous enough
