I am so glad to see that there's at least 1 logically sane woman on this board.
I did the Home Dad thing for nearly 3 years with 2 girls born 1 year & 9 days apart. Also had a boy starting K at the same time. I absolutely LOVED it. After having at least 1 job since age 12 & playing sports year round to that point in my early 30s = pure heaven.
My wife had a great job with great insurance. Day care with 2 in diapers + after school care for the boy was AT LEAST $2000/moth at a place we could get all 3 into at once or 2 places close enough to each other that had pick up until 530/6pm (many people don't realize until they have kids to go into day care just how big of a beating it is to beat the late pick up clock).
After some serious family debate, we landed on seeing 0 point of working 40+ hours/week & giving over half my after tax take home pay to someone else to watch + feed my kids all day?
I slept in until 8 or 9am every day. Ran a load of laundry, fed them some breakfast, they watched a kid show or 2 & I watched Sportscenter. We packed a lunch & I played 9-18 holes at least 2 days a week. Kids fit easily on a golf cart but we had a huge double stroller that fit my clubs on the bottom & a sleeve of balls. The other days we went to the park or drove around to visit other kids/friends.
Got home in time for the bus. Afternoon snack. Finished the laundry. Cleaned up whatever toys. Started dinner. Bath time. Bed time. During season when I was coaching LSU lacrosse, we just traded off when she got home & all she really had to do was finish dinner & deal with bath time. Which worked out great for them to have those binding hours.
Repeat.
Absolutely glorious & I wish I could still do it.
So many of these people stress themselves out with all the outfits & scheduled + structured play time, limited screen time, etc. Heck all that noise. None of that matters. At. All.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I worked from home for 6 years and saw what my wife did. I could not or did not want to do what she did. She also kept the house clean and running smoothly while I brought in the money.
Her job was hard, especially with 3 kids under 5. Now I don’t understand the complaints when they are older and in school full time but as a new parent or parent with young kids, that is a hard job.

Thank you! I do consider myself logical - sane is another question

Yes it’s the little crap that doesn’t really matter - I have a few ‘gamers’ so I do limit screen time bc I think it’s important to talk to each other (although we do that all day) but they also know how to code and have gone to several game design camps bc I want them to see it as a learning experience as well
As for outfits and stuff - yikes - we are terrible at that - my kids wear clothes - that’s good enough for me
I think it’s more important for junior to learn how to read and make change than it is for him to wear an overpriced outfit that he’ll out grow in two weeks
But yes - we did private school with two in day care - I don’t think I ever saw anything from my paycheck - I shouldve just had it direct deposited to the schools

Newsflash: everyone complains about their lives. Kinda like you're doing now.

No cycle of complaining will ever cease as long as people have ears and mouths. I get your point though. It is out of hand.
Staying home and caring for a child or multiple children, there’s an argument to be made. That’s stressful in its own way, especially when they constantly ruin the clean house and stuff.
Complaining about staying home when the kids are old enough to go to school? That’s ridiculous. Stress from running errands and balancing volunteer or social time, etc. Yeah give me a fricking break.

How old were your kids? Mine is still a young baby, and I’m still on maternity leave, so my perspective is limited.
Infant. Watched my son from age 6 months to about 12 months. Then did it most mornings from 12 months to two years old.
