Will humanity’s development of tools render our evolution almost obsolete?

All animals, over a long period of time, have their characteristics change and evolve to match their environmental needs. But humans merely invent new tools to match our needs of today. Will human evolution become all but nonexistant?

...why wouldn't humans continue to evolve based on the needs of the new technology?

Incorrect.
You are describing genetic drift. It doesn't always happen.

Because technology is invented in the present, to be used for and by our present characteristics. Are you saying we develop new technology that we can’t use unless we evolve to use it?

One could argue that our continued development of tools and technology are just another example of our continued evolution.

No, I'm saying we would evolve around the new technology.

Human evolution is the eventual merge of the organic and machine.

So a somewhat backwards evolution then?
