And all other soft drinks.

This is one “green” thing I believe in, Coke in a glass bottle. I would like for them to get rid of the plastic bottles and go back to 100% glass (and cans).
I know they recycle the plastics now, but it just tastes better from a glass bottle. It would cost the consumer more for deposit, but it will give the bums something to do.
Same could go for the milk industry.

Well, back in the day you returned the bottles. The were washed and reused at the bottling plant.

So, bottles are far more green than plastic.

No. It’s only green if you return it and people already recycle plastics.

Recycling plastics is not as green as washing and reusing bottles.

Bottles are clear, not green.

All the extra fuel burned for additional weight per bottle and recycling process has costs to be factored in as well.

Not “as” green but what’s the difference, specifically?

Account for vehicles specifically meant for picking up and dropping off bottles.

Glass bottles are probably healthier for us. The plastics we use for bottles and cans leach out.

They are picked up by the same truck that delivers. Very efficient.

Believe it or not, this was actually done in the past. It's not rocket science.

Apparently it is cheaper to have plastic bottles continually manufactured and recycled than washing the bottles, but it certainly not "greener".

People don't recycle.

They put items in a recycling bin, that is then usually brought to a dump or sold to another country to dump.

Years ago we had an old soda machine in the shop that held 10oz Coke bottles. Best ever.

The crates were right next to the machine. When the Coke man delivered, he took the empties with him.
