Is this a woman thing?

No, not a woman thing. She probably feels like it's so old, she doesn't care anymore whether it's clean or dirty.

Take it to the car wash. Vaccum it. Clean out all the trash.
The effort is worth the reward

Not wife (she’s actually ocd about it) but daughters, yes filthy.

No.
My husband tosses stuff (all kinds) into the back seat and cleans the car maybe every one to two months. When I have litter in the car, I stuff it into my purse or pockets and empty them when I get into the house.

You've only had 10 years to correct it. Give it another few more. She may miraculously
surprise you when taking it in for the 15 year no oil in engine repair.

When I was dating a messy car or house was an immediate disqualifier.

My wife keeps the house clean so I keep the vehicles clean. Gets me some quiet time to think, as well.

Wash and clean it out for her. She will be appreciative unless she's a psycho then she'll take it as an insult and fight with you.

What I've found with people keeping dirty vehicles is that it is in direct relation as to how they acquired that vehicle.
When my stepdaughter had our hand me down car given to her and one her dad eventually gave her a few years later, it was nothing short of a rolling dumpster.
She recently purchased her first car and is making payments on it and keeps it very clean. It's amazing the mind set some have when they don't really "earn" their vehicle and it's given to them.
Same with several male nephews I have. One in particular always treated vehicles he was given like he was in a "Demolition Derby" and ragged the hell out of them.
Well, that gravy train ended and he had to buy himself a new truck. You could eat off any surface in it and he had a fit one day when his mom backed into it getting out of the driveway and put a baseball sized ding in the fender.

It’s your job to take it to the car wash

Wash? Sure. Clean out wrappers, clothes, paper and Starbucks cups from the floorboards? Uh uh.

Pretty soon she’ll be driving a Lexus from her boyfriend

Yes it is. I believe since they don’t usually have to clean their own vehicle knowing a man does it for them they give zero fricks. True story

I can't imagine a woman in a dirty car.
My wife's car looks better than when it came home.
Dirty wife, filthy life (not in a good way)

I'm a millennial and I've seen some trashed out cars man. Mostly bar type sluts, but just amazing levels of neglect.
