The Sherriff is stumped on this. He suspects the spouse and the spouse's brother. The fire covered much of the evidence and it was an extremely intense fire. It burned to the slab by the time they got it out. Ihave friends in Montgomery's office who desperately want something on the case. They think Krentel is a POS but he is a particularly slippery POS. Smith is an idiot though.

Nice to see the blonde woman and the cat agreeing on something for a change.

Part 2 of 'Mystery in the Ashes' aired on WWL last night. Below is the article recapping this episode. The video includes video footage from the inside of the Krentel's fire dept SUV as he's driving to the scene of the fire. He arrived after STPSO deputies but before fire engines.

Part 3 airs Friday, Nov. 22 at the 10 pm news broadcast.

Voted against him primarily because of this case. I mean solve it already.

Here’s Katie Moore’s article about Nanette’s relationship with her brother in law.

What’s the deal with this meme? I see it all the time used in many different ways.

The blonde woman is Taylor Armstrong. The screenshot was from a 2011 episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The cat was identified as one named Smudge. That’s all I really know.
Fun fact: the brunette in the photo is Kyle Richards. Her sister, Kim Richards, was a child actress who starred with Ike Eisenmann in Escape from Witch Mountain movie (and sequel) in the 1970’s. I’m showing my age.
Know your meme: crying blonde and white cat

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. — More than three years after her death in a horrible fire, the district attorney of St. Tammany Parish appears to be trying to breathe new life into the investigation of Nanette Krentel, the late wife of the fire chief from St. Tammany Fire District 12. Her death was the focus of Katie Moore's investigation "Mystery in Ashes."
quote:
Nanette Krentel, the wife of a former fire chief Steve Krentel, was found shot in the head and burned beyond recognition in her charred Lacombe home in July 2017.
The coroner's office classified it a homicide, but no arrests were ever made. Now District Attorney Warren Montgomery has subpoenaed all of the records from the sheriff's office after alluding to "material differences in the findings of the Coroner and Sheriff's Office. “We just want answers,” said her sister Kim Watson. “We want to know what happened to her.”
quote:
Watson has long been critical of the way in which the investigation was handled, but even she was a bit puzzled by the timing. Her first reaction – “I wonder why it’s been three years.” St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith reacted with a statement in which he maintained both he and Dr. Charles Preston, the coroner, were unaware of any differences in their findings.
Nevertheless, he turned over the records Friday and then released another statement, an endorsement of DA Montgomery's challenger, Vincent Wynne. While the timing of that announcement surprised Watson, she said that elections don't matter to her. She wants justice for Nanette. She's now hoping Montgomery will release details of the case in hopes they jog someone's memory and help solve her sister's case.
District Attorney Montgomery issued a statement saying, "We have received the case file from the Sheriff's Office. The Krentel family deserves justice in the murder of Nanette Krentel. I look forward to working in collaboration with the Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies to achieve that end."

Everyone knows the fire chief and/or his brother did it. The completely botched investigation by the S.O. is going to make it hard to prove, though.

Also, as someone who has worked with every parish in the state on different types of projects, I'll say that there is no parish that, top to bottom, works in an ethical grey area more consistently than they do. That includes the likes of Jefferson, Orleans, and Plaquemines. Every project makes me feel like I'm going to end up in court.

Both Randy Smith and Warren Montgomery are clowns. And now they are feuding over who the bigger POS is. STP fricked up by not electing Tim Lentz last year.

While I won’t go this far, I have not been impressed by either of them...at all. They may end up being fantastic. But this “trial in the court of public opinion” concerning what seems to be a feud is unacceptable to me as a voter.
On another note, I was impressed with Tim Lentz as the Police Chief. Nothing against the Covington PD, as I think they do a fairly good job, but I wish that he had stayed on in that capacity.
