you forgot taxes and tolls..might as well sign over half your paycheck to pay the ridiculous taxes and road fees in the northeast.
NO THANK YOU

I would love to live in Montana or Wyoming or Washington...
Fresh air with hardly anyone around.. Peace and quiet.. I can deal with the snow and cold temps.....Just hunkerdown with a months worth of supplies... A very simple life.......

I tried to be positive and name good things from each. I can make a cons list too but I figured that would cause a whole lot of unnecessary drama.
FWIW, the only time I pay tolls is when I pick someone up from the airport. And I don't honestly know the difference in what I paid in taxes in Louisiana vs. Massachusetts, but I can definitely tell you my paycheck is much larger up here.

South (mostly Louisiana, but most of these can count across the board):
Better winters
Better sports
Tailgating
Better looking women
Friendlier people
More hometown pride, if that makes sense
Better relationships, as people who went to elementary/high school are more likely to still be in the same area
Better seafood
thats a pretty good list.....
Give me the South for $500 Alex

Louisiana has some fine arse women, but come on man
The intelligence and customer service in the south is awful

I wonder if there is any correlation btw La and Ms being #49 and #50 in taxes and all the other areas where we are 49th and 50th?

No wrong answers. I prefer it in the Northeast, by that's just a personal preference.
Can't wait to leave here though, but not for the south. The west just seems like my ideal place to be. Some day.

i disagree. Have you ever had a DirectV operator from the south help you? they are the most considerate and helpful customer service operators I've ever dealt with.

Yes it does. It's expensive to live up here. But to me, you get what you pay for. I could live in BFE Massachusetts for very cheap, but I would rather pay more and be in the city.

i lived in greenwich village for a very short time when i was in my 20s on an extended gig.
i enjoyed it no doubt. felt like a native and all riding the subway around town & living in a primo apartment that was right in the middle of the action.
but as an older man, i prefer the quiet and acreage living about 25 miles outside of nashville.
i can get a taste of the city when i want..and stars and quiet at night (and naked hot tub action with no one around to see)

More power to you. I'm still in my 20s so city life is very appealing to me. I likely won't feel that way in 20 years.

I just had the same conversation with my gf. She lived in Washington DC for 3 years. frick that staying inside for weeks bullshite. Give me the beach, cool weather not cold, and women in bikkini's.
I don't know a soul who stays inside for weeks. There's as much to outdoors in winter as indoors unless you're stuck in the city

Depends. I deal with a lot of folks from Chicago and NJ and NY and CT, and they're across the board far less pleasant to deal with.
The south is hit or miss. I get good customer service a lot. I get pleasantness a lot. They don't always go hand in hand. But saying customer service is better in the mid Atlantic is laughable to me. West coast is similar, but they're usually pleasant while still not giving a shite.

The south has very shitty customer service compared to places with different demographics. This really only applies to grocery stores, some restaurants, etc.
eta: and obviously there are plenty of exceptions
