I get to travel a lot of the Southwest and Midwest by car.
OK, KS, NE, and Iowa are pretty brutal outside of the larger town themselves.
It's flyover country but, the people are great I've learned.

Man, I like Utah, especially going south, from Salt Lake to Moab, much better than Kansas. Not a lot of vegetation, but some very cool rock formations and stuff, and some interesting colors.

Utah is pretty damn awesome if you're into outdoor stuff

Suburbs of Kansas City especially Overland Park are nice.
They do have tornados and snow/ice which any area north of I-20 has.
My business partner and I had an outdoor power equipment business there with nursery.
We made very good money, clients had money, spent money, they didn't beat you down on price, and this store required higher level of service.
We did very well and that location was one of our most profitable locations.
At one time they had good schools from what my business partner told.
I always thought Overland Park seemed a lot nicer place to raise kids over Baton Rouge.

Yeah, I hear Moab is awesome...I've only made the stretch from the Rockies to SLC and it was brutal. There were certainly some pretty spots, but I'm not sure Utah is inhabited aside from SLC.

Did you go I-80?. That's really fairly tame, now if you went I-70, yeah, that's some fairly rough driving, and I imagine that U.S. 40 is even worse, but I never went that way. I-70 is beautiful though from Denver to Rifle.

We took 70. It was awful.
But yes, I-70 leaving Denver was absolutely gorgeous. Driving through the Rockies is something everyone should do.

Driving through it right now it has got to be the most depressing place on earth.
I'll admit I've never drive through Kansas, but there is no way it's worsen than driving across the barren wasteland of New Mexico.

You got that right, Utah gets a bad wrap sometimes, but I really always enjoy going there.
I hope I can come to see Alaska soon.

I think Oklahoma is getting an unfair pass here. Most of that state will make you want to eat a bullet.

It's a great road trip if you drive here. Western Alberta and Northern BC have some awesome areas in their own right. The worst part of the trip was West Texas and some of Alberta.
The Drive across Texas and Eastern N.M. to I-25 was the worst leg of a road trip I've been on.

It's pretty bad alright, especially The Panhandle.I might be misjudging a bit, but it seems to be the methiest state in the lower 48.

Manhattan sucks cock. I drove through on a Saturday night going to Dillon, CO. I had no 4g and there was no one really out and about in the town. We drove through campus and it looked like a suitcase college IMO

Yeah, I have made it a few times. I-25 is a nice drive though huh? I love that drive. One day I want to stop and explore that old mission, if you know the one I am talking about, its on the west side of I-25, I think just south of Pueblo.

Seems every time I've driven it, the mountains have been obscured by clouds.

Missouri, Tennessee, and Indiana have far worse meth problems than Okie does these days according to the stats.
I found that OK has decent Ozark and Ouachita hills/small mountain scenery and green woods in the eastern part of that state, but the northern and far western part of the state is desolate and depressing.

As I said, I might be misjudging, but I spend A LOT of time in Tennessee, quite a bit in Missouri, Indiana has some shithole cities especially Gary and Hammond, that may skew statistics for the rest of the place.
If you just drive into a rural area in most places, you can get a feeling of friendliness and feel that you have common ground and can make some jokes, even if you have a different accent.
Not so much in Oklahoma.

Wonder how many people say this about Baton Rouge? I'd rather be bored in Kansas than getting my arse shot or robbed in Baton Rouge.
