Because of them fricking around with the transponders the flight got iffy to track. The 5th plane was a "phantom" flight 11.
Basically after it crashed into the tower there were still reports it was in the air and that got passed several times up and down the commands as people tried to make sense of it all.

The first hit tower is the strangest, it was hit high up. The second makes more sense as it was hit lower, thus more weight above impact zone.
It was the first time they had actually flown a 737, just hitting the tower anywhere was likely the only thing their minds, not what floor.

almost certainly the WH
KSM said they'd researched the WH, but were convinced the U.S. had installed air to surface defenses at the WH.
Flight 93 was intended for the Capitol building. However, the hijacker pilots were ultimately given discretion to select their final target.
FBI's conclusion is that the hijackers rolled 93 & crashed it in the field in PA because the passengers were going to retake control of the aircraft. Flight recordings showed that the pilots & crew were in the rear of the aircraft & could've landed the place.

There were no 737s hijacked - two 767s hit the WTC, a 757 hit the Pentagon, and another 757 was United 93 that crashed in PA.

and why target the section of the building that was completely cleared out for renovations?
Was this info made public or something? How would the flying goatfrickers know what area of the Pentagon was undergoing renovation or that it was undergoing renovation at all?
And why were these documents detailing this financial impropriety located in an are being renovated?

question:
I watched this TSA video that was put out yesterday about the timeline of events
one of the pilots in pursuit mentions a 757, but the footage they have looks to clearly show a 747
i'm assuming maybe this was stock footage from something else...but it has bothered me since i saw the video
i've linked the video to the point where it is shown, but if it doesnt work, go to 2:58 mark

We know 4 planes were hijacked and the other 2 were headed to DC, where the 4th was aimed we will never know
Technically you are correct. But really... do you think it was heading to the National Arboretum or the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum?
Flight 93 was headed to the U.S. Capitol or the White House. For shock value, either would have sufficed, with a slight edge to a destroyed capitol dome. Under that scenario, even if the capitol was un-evacuated, the death toll would have been under 50**, I think.
** ETA: excluding those on Flight 93
