“Fact checking” progressives (they really weren’t before) and not censoring people that question their asinine statements is going to really deflate them.

That’s a big reason why people hate Elon Musk right now. He’s curbing censorship, ditching fake accounts that amplify ridiculous messaging, and equally applying the ToS.

The changes he’s making is going to make Twitter relevant and keep it that way. It will be a reliable source of news and content - with context added and can be criticized by everyone on the platform. They’ll be less dependent on advertising and people won’t be able to bitch that they’ve influenced elections anymore.

Don't forget about the "Conservatives are sexist and racist" COPE. Without this and media, liberal policies wouldn't be able stand up on their own. Bad ideas being implemented by inherently incompetent people generally don't do very well.

Has the guy making the accusation provided evidence?

I'd like to see that.

Nothing to do with money. Their “privileged” status is now available to all and that’s what has their panties in a wad. If you read a bunch of the Twitter threads on it, it is a bunch of sanctimonious bullshite about journalist are the arbiters of truth and allowing anyone else to spread information is a threat.

If you want another source, here is The Atlantic saying the same thing. . .

. . .in 2012

So they have been doing this for a minute.

One on Twitter was bitching “I thought he said this was free speech “

$15,000 for a blue check

Would only take 156.25 years to pay off at the current rate of $8/mo

That's assuming the $15k was for a single account/blue check. Could take just over 12 years for someone controlling 100 bots
