I wish I had more than one upvote to give. This is exactly right.

Can you give us some specific examples of your personal experience with this? I’ll wait.

Just because you are ignorant it doesn't mean they are wrong. I've seen good and bad. All of my kids were home schooled at one time or another and all are well adapted socially. All in college or college grads. Some played college sports as well. One even finished the degree in 3 years while playing sports, and no advisor was writing papers to help pass. People sometimes have stupid opinions but it doesn't change the facts. I've seen some ill adapted home school kids as well. There are many reasons that people decide that path. Chill out fool

I'll just say the few home school kids I interacted with were mal adjusted weirdos.

Their social skills and ability to read the room per se weren't up to snuff

Thats simply incorrect.

Yep this thread is full of people who just regurgitate things they hear, or base their experiences on a couple of people they think they know

The one I spent the most time around was a pretty big douche.

He would routinely get in facebook fights arguing that the earth was 6000 years old and would practically mock anyone who thought otherwise.

The other few were extremely reserved.

Maybe they are just normal kids at that awkward stage in life just like you will find in any public school.

Go to any medical school there is no shortage of absolutely brilliant but socially inept people in their 20s. Being introverted with high intelligence is a just common personality trait, not something created by home schooling.

Really depends on circumstances and where one lives.

I wasn't home schooled, but I've known some great home schoolers.

because schools are propaganda centers for indoctrinating kids into socialism, hating america, suppressing free speech, and recruiting snowflakes and antifa activists

My kids school has never done any of these things.

My neighbors down the street did it. 7 kids. All are high functioning very socialized individuals. More so than probably 98% of the idiots on the OT. They traveled often and seem to have a great family life.

I have neighbors that home school their kids.

The 7 year old cant write his name properly.

The public school system is terrible where I live so we pony up the money for private for a better education.

There's no doubt some parents don't really teach their kids while they are supposed to be teaching but thipose kids wouldn't do well in public schools either if parents don't value education

My experience locally has been positive with these homeschoolers but the parents are very engaged in their kids education. It's derpfinitely a benefit for many kids

From personal observation, it can work well, especially at the elementary level, IF you have lots of time and resources. It's more problematic getting them through high school subjects and prepared for college.

I think this is the key here. As a high school teacher myself, I don't really see it being a big issue for elementary school as long as the student is still getting proper socialization. But there is no way a parent will be able to realistically teach all high school subjects at the same level they would get in a real high school.

I consider myself very well rounded and can teach pretty much any life science taught in high school, but I wouldn't be able to teach anyone Trig or Calc and do them justice. I personally don't know any high school teachers who could do that, much less a parent without training.
