I've always wanted to make a movie on the true story of Vlad without any vampire stuff

There was once a mini series on I think, USA about the true story of Vlad. He was no more brutal than his enemy....and then he had to deal with the Turks

The Church and other "politicians" of his day would under cut him, make side deals with the Turks, etc.....The Ottoman Turks, etc were not hellbent on converting the people they conquered, in fact many of the Turkish Sultans were more European, than Turkish due to deals by the Byzantines with inter marriage.....Hell Sulieman who took Constantinople was probably more Serbian than anything else.

Aside from the visual, seems unlikely they could jam that stake up your arse then up your back without losing consciousness and bleeding to death fast.

Whereas crucifixion appears to last until dehydration.

Vlad's cousin "Stefan the Great" was considered a better guy than Vlad.

I have always said a movie about Vlad or an eastern European small kingdom against the Ottomans would be epic.

Off the top of my head, I would think a name like Vlad the Impaler might have been a poor choice from a PR perspective !

You need to think again. They perfected a way to do it that made the victims linger in agony.
