Um, that's an embellishment of the OP's authoring, I'm sure.

There were no warriors for Christ then (is that a US baptist thing?).

He meant to say that Vlad was very anti-Saracen.

Because Bram stoker turned him into a vampire.

And other early writers sensationalized his brutality.

He is considered a hero in Romania

When it suited him. He also allied with them from time to time. His brother, backed by the Turks, eventually overthrew him. Power politics is never black\white, and never more so than in that time or place. Your closest friend or mortal enemy could reverse roles from one week to the next.

Vlad never allied with the Muslims. He was raised in captivity, along with his brother, to be an Ottoman puppet but when he got his first chance to show his true independent Christian colors, he did.

He was in conflict with his brother from the day his brother succumbed to Mehmet. That's more the fault of his brother than Vlad.

The Ottomans backed his first campaign to unseat his cousin, and he took refuge with them when it failed. They later had a falling out, after which the impaling started, but he didn't seem to have a problem with them at first.

I believe the more accurate account is the Ottomans, having raised him since his early years and thinking he was on their side, put him forth to take over Wallachia but weren't successful at first.

Vlad, not being stupid enough to challenge them at the time since he had practically zero ability to win, continued to feign loyalty until a proper break could be attempted.

I'll check it out, with one eye on the documentary and one eye looking for the actual truth.

As in my discussion with Rockford, one mans "no problem with them" is another mans "I got serious problems with them but aint doing shite about it to save my arse until I can".

I don't know, but he should be.

Anyone who's fought to keep moslums out of Europe should be celebrated.

Well, he killed a whole lot of his own and other Christian people as well. He also at times worked with the Ottomans.

Also, being impaled would have to fricking suck. I have been thinking about how miserable that would be over the past few days (since watching life of Brian)

Version I read says 99% of those vlad impaled were Saxons from Transylvania. Vlad had been imprisoned 12 years in Transylvania.

The only Muslims mentioned were two envoys of ottoman empire.

The Saxons spoke German. His legend was stoked by German novelists.

Well, i Wikipedia’s crucifixrion only to learn we know very little about what crucifiction was like and there were various types that resembled impalement. Then that led me to looking up old Vladdy again. Dude was an a-hole.

P.S. did you know there was a form of crucifiction where they’d put a hook through your rib and that’s how they’d hang you.
Ouch
