My post doesn't answer your questions but it seems retarded for a prior generation to bash the newer one when they were the one's who raised them. Basically you are saying your generation sucks at parenting. Went to a restaurant a few weeks back and a table full of teenage girls and parents. It was funny, the kids were actually talking to each other while parents were all looking at their phones the entire time. I noticed this while we were sitting down waiting on a table.
Besides my desktop computer and my cell phone, every electronic device I own is a hand-me-down from my parents because they buy so many. I go to their house and after a few minutes of talking I'm staring at a picture on the wall and they're both buried in a phone screen or their ipad.
They're watching my nieces and nephew grow up through a screen. I know the kids are cute, but no one else is going to care about them as much as we do. They need to put the cameras down and play with the kids.
My parents are late boomers. I'm an early millennial.

My dad is a boomer and he still rocks a flip phone and doesn't own a TV
He has plenty of money but he's sort of a minimalist

Was in a bar the other day and had 3 good ole boys lamenting millenials and how they are lazy good fur nuttin hipsters these days
I looked it up and I pointed out to them that they were all born in the millinial range and they threw a fit saying it was wrong
People think kids are millinials right now, the current era is Centinnials. Millinials are aged 21-40 right now

I was born in 76 and just turned 41. I definitely identify more with GenX even though I'm a younger one. I remember as a kid growing up without cable TV much less internet or a cell phone. 80s hair bands, tight rolled jeans, MTV played music videos and we stayed gone on our bikes all day during the summer. There's a huge generational gap between me and a 22 year old. I think it's hard to define characteristics of people over that broad of a time period.

Absolutely. Generations are too broad to make adequate assumptions. A 10 year period would be much more accurate. The way technology is changing life, 5 years might be enough.
I was on the division between Boomer and X, definitely identify more with Boomers but those who were born 10 years later than I had a much different experience and different values.

Is there really that much hatred? I mean do you go to work and have pissing contests with older people about which generation is better or do you just do this shite on the internet?

Baby boomers had mentors when they got into the workforce. Millennials don't.
White collar paper pusher jobs, no. No mentors.
Blue collar skilled trade jobs, yes. Mentors can't find young smart people to mentor.

Kids still do this, as a matter of fact, most kids still do this. And they play sports and build forts and all the stuff us older folks don't think they still do.

Not like we did where I currently live. Most parents wouldn't allow it. At 8-9 yrs old we would leave the house in the morning and stay gone until dark and our parents had no way to get in touch with us. I think that's definitely changed.

I don't know, I have 4 kids who all have friends. Most of my friends and co-workers have young kids. We all let them do all that. I see kids that age on bicycles all over the city riding around. Guess it just depends on the area.

Yeah you can say that your kids do this but the truth is that they don't. All kids today are sheltered because they're not as brave and self reliant as we were. We are tougher and smarter, that's why our generation is better, it's just a fact.

I should go beat my kids to toughen em up

It's too late, your kids are already weak cause of the generation they belong to. That's why we're raising our kids as generation x.

It's just so confusing, kind of like my kid's gender.

Just start calling them Pat, Peyton or Taylor and they can figure it out later. We don't want any more Bruce-->Kaitlyn moves

Bold strategy. We're raising ours Silent Generation. As soon as they get in from the back 40 we're going to catch the Cubs game on the radio and catch up on some canning.
