It's a top-down decay.
When the politicians are crooked and lazy, it reflects that attitude all the way down to the poor and stupid

Everytime I come back it looks worse. Huge pot holes on most roads, road kill all over the side of the road, trash in the grass. I mean do people here just not care? The air generally stinks in most places. Leaving this state was the best thing I have ever done. Once you experience something else, you will never move back.
Just go the frick away already....Hell if it's that much better where you are why even think about Louisiana?

You don't know pot holes until you've been in Minnesota. Holy shite.

Because I have family and friends here? I love visiting, but staying here longer than a few days is miserable

He lives in Arkansas
Yet the OP has not specifically said what part of Louisiana he's talking about being "so dirty"
Posted on 11/3/16 at 9:22 pm to Lionnation1993
Well, I live in Indianapolis. It's super clean as far as cities go, but it comes with boring, vanilla people. Give me the dirt with some flava. Just don't make me live north of Opelousas. That's Arkansas.

I second this notion. If you don't want to be part of the solution, i.e., all you want to do is bitch, then just stay where you are and quit worrying about Louisiana.

If you come back by way of BTR airport, you pretty much drive through the nastiest part of town right when you leave the airport. There was trash everywhere on the side of the road when I came back from a trip last wknd.
First no you don't. You drive one mile then get on the interstate.
Second yes there is trash on the road and do you know why? Because 170,000 homes and businesses flooded two months ago and they are cleaning up and yes, shite blows out of trucks but it beats the hell out of a 10' tall pile of your life sitting on the curb in front of your gutted house.
Maybe next time you will think before you type or hopefully your planes engines will explode or it will pile into the side of a mountain.
Dumbass.

The areas around Baton Rouge and Louisiana in general have always had shite lying around on the ground. Don't blame a a decades old problem of laziness and disrespect on something like the floods

This is a joke, right? Louisiana roads, shoulders, ditches, and neural grounds have always been trashed.

The litter really bothers me. It's not hard to just not throw your shite on the ground.
Posted on 11/3/16 at 9:31 pm to lsusteve1
Other than Mexico....there's no other trashy place ive been to than South Louisiana. And this was pre-flood. The amount of litter in the medium between BTR and Ascension parish is unbelieveable.

Every time I drive through I always notice how shitty and dirty the gas stations and bathrooms are compared to other states when I need to pull off, get a snack, or use the bathroom. It's pretty embarrassing to say I'm from there.
...and yes, tons of trash on the sides of the roads.
Inb4 "it's like that everywhere"
Inb4 "if you don't like it, then get out"

It's called the Dirty South for a reason
But it's true, gas stations, fast food restaurants, neutral grounds, sides of the road, even grocery stores and malls around these parts are all nasty. There's no doubt about it, Louisiana is a dirty place compared to other parts of the country.

If Louisiana would do away with the open container law I would quit throwing my beer cans out the window.

If you drive outside of the city it really isn't "dirty" or any worse than other rural places.
