For one, you have the most visited national park in America close by, Smokey Mountain National Park.

and crime is low

I just read this:

Crime is a Problem
Before moving, you might ask yourself, "Is Knoxville a safe place to live?" Unfortunately, the fact is that Knoxville has one of the highest crime rates in the country compared to other communities and areas of its size.

With a crime rate of 51 per every 1,000 residents, one chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime is one in 20, which is a very frightening statistic.

As violent crime rates continue to rise in the city, it is essential first to learn where the best neighborhoods in Knoxville are to stay safe.

Please read our Living Alone: Home Safety Checklist for more information about home safety tips, especially if you are moving alone.

Us red blooded Tennesseeans would welcome the addition of any of you Louisiana bois. Need all the bodies we can have to negate the political impact of the Blue State refugees fleeing their homeland yet bringing their Blue State policies with them

I worked in Knoxville for six months and saw more homeless people there than I did working almost anywhere else.

Lived there 5 years both downtown and in other parts around town and on campus. I didn't really come to that conclusion. Sure there were some sprinkled in here and there, but what city doesn't have a few homeless people? I don't recall my surroundings being overran by homeless encampments.

Are we talking the city or the surrounding suburbs?

If the latter it's because the Knox County Mayor is Glenn Jacobs AKA Kane from WWE. You mess up, he'll simply choke slam you into compliance.
