Do you not watch the NFL...?

98% of those "dreads" aren't real...

Probably because it’s a female thing, would be like a man with a ponytail. It happens, but not too often

My observation has been if you see a woman with those long braids or other long hair in general, it is a weave and not their own hair.

If I see a black man with same, it is usually their own hair that they took the time to grow out.

Why is this? Why don’t the women folk just take the time and grow it out?

On a side note, why are they appropriating the hair of other cultures?

Because some prefer their pelt to hose fake weaves.

Are you freaking serious? Weaves might be just as popular with black dudes as they are with black chicks. Do you think all of those braided ‘dreads’ the guys wear are their own real hair?

Honestly, yeah, I did think it was real hair. The fact that it's fake is actually news to me.

I’m gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and take you seriously.

It takes a hell of a long time for black dudes to grow their hair that long. If it was real you’d see a lot more guys in the middle ‘growing out’ stages. Sure, some do it, but most of the long hair you see hanging out of football helmets is 100% artificial.

I love coming to the OT and being schooled on being black.

I'm sure there are black guys out there who do get weave, but I'd say 95% plus dont. I know plenty of black guys with dreads or braids and none of them have weave. They just take the time to grow them out. I know guys who have 10 years in.

In my 30 plus years I have never come across a black guy or even hear of black guys getting weave put into the hair. Well at least the non flamboyant ones at least. If it was as common as a couple of you guys say, I'm sure I would have heard about it over some of the posters on this board.

Go to a black barbershop or salon and ask about getting weave sewn into you hair as a guy and watch the hilarity ensue.

Ok man. So are you saying all of these black dudes who play football are wearing their real hair? 95% grew it out naturally? I’m sorry but I just don’t believe that.

What makes you an expert on this?

True

There is. I notice a shite ton of guys in their teens in the growing out stages. I also coach and teach so I am around a lot of kids in the growing out stages as well.

What are the chances that you probably aren't around enough or paying attention enough to notice.

How often are you around black people, how many have you personally known to go through the process of locking and growing them out? I have several athletes and 2 cousins alone who are currently doing this. I have an associate who has grown his out for 10 years plus. How many do you know that just go get it "done" since you are speaking with such absolute knowledge? I personally do not know any.

Again what are you basing this on? I'm sure there are a few cases here and there, but most?
