I get some local Atascocita rag tossed in my yard what seems like every day. I've told them to stop and they haven't. The definition of littering your garbage in my property.

I might collect them for a while and start throwing them at the delivery person. Or go to their office and drop them in their lobby or something.

So I did some quick digging. Apparently, the "unsolicited delivery" of newspapers is constitutionally protected. See link:

bullshite

In addition, newspapers are expressly excluded from the definition of litter under the Louisiana revised statutes.

quote:

While being used for or distributed in accordance with their intended uses, litter shall not include political pamphlets, handbills, religious tracts and newspapers, and other similar printed materials,

However, the fact that the practice is constitutionally protected basically just means that the municipalities and state cannot pass laws restricted a company's ability to distribute them. It does not eliminate an individual's private right of action for nuisance/trespass/etc. Also, just because something is not "litter" doesn't mean those fricks can stick it on my lawn. Accordingly, my plan is sound. Who's in?

P.S. get off my lawn.

And yet people don't want a constitutional convention.

I said it another thread and I'll repeat it here - Louisiana has written and adopted a constitution that seals its fate as one of the worse run political entities in the country. LA is required by law to suck from a political standpoint.

I tend to agree with this, but the Constitutional issue is one of National origin and the SCOTUS has decided the issue. LA is just following suit because it has to.

My question is who is benefitting from these books being mass printed?

Where is the money being made and by whom? Seems like a pretty dated enterprise in this day and age.

They make less and less money on the physical phone books each year, but advertisers still pay to have ad listings in the books. Not the best use of your ad dollar, but they still pay.

All you have to do is pick up the phone and tell them to stop delivering the weekly papers. I did this at my parents house with both The Advocate and The T-P.

I also threatened a lawsuit if my parents fell while trying to pick up newspaper trash in their yard (they're in their mid to high 80s)

tried this to no avail. Also, years ago I cancelled the actual paper and kept getting it even after I called until I moved. I suspect they would rather deliver papers that are unwanted and unpaid for to artificially increase their "circulation" numbers bc that is part of how they price ads.

I was told by an attorney friend of mine that the best way to find a good attorney is to look for the guy with the smallest ad or find one with no ads at all.

The ad space still sells for some reason. I guess somehow these businesses believe that distribution numbers are the same as readership. Think I read somewhere that 70% of phone books never even get opened.
