Is it legal to ask if a potential employee plans on using FMLA for any potential sick relatives?
I'd rather the woman go have a kid and come back, than have someone milk the FMLA for whenever they want to take off time.

Unfortunately, that isn't legal. That being said, a lot of women take advantage of it. It is a problem and I'm a person that advocates maternal/paternal leave

But isn't that part of a female military contract?

If they can do the job hire them.
If they get pregnant, find reasons to write them up, then fire them.

No, but FMLA can only be used on immediate family members. And ask in a manner that is compassionate and understanding of their situation.
That said, be very supportive if an employee asks about using FMLA. I've been in compliance seminars where they've brought up legal cases involving employees that have won lawsuits based on a managers body language when they asked to take legitimate leave.

NoT sure, but the military does not fall under the same labor laws as private citizens.

FMLA certainly has its purpose, but I have seen abuse of this by way too many substandard employees just looking for 3 day weekends, etc.
"Oh, my Dad has to go to the doctor again." "Oh, my mother is not feeling well today over in Georgia."

So they're supposed to completely disregard a law that helps to protect them all to make sure that the company benefits short-term?
We just hired an employee that we suspected as being pregnant, but we are bullish on what she will bring to the company before she goes on leave, and then after she comes back.

You shouldn't even be entertaining the thought of hiring a female.

I dont see the problem. You should go ahead and ask all your female applicants/employees.
Let us know how it works out for you.

You may want to have a conversation with your HR manager, because that's not how FMLA is intended to be used.

Post this sign in the hiring area:
Make new hire female employees sign a form that they've read the sign and agree to abide by it.

Because no one would hire women. These feminists would have a point if this were the case.
