You can save the beer toast, I don't drink with people like you. Whatever you think Charlie said, he didn't. You even bringing it up shows the lie about liberal empathy.

I mostly agree with you about the myth of liberal empathy but you brought up Kirk, not him.

They feel comfortable there. It smells like home

He stated that liberals are more empathetic. I brought up a recent example where that clearly isn't true.

I think full is a gross overstatement. The personnel in my wife's clinic, as far as she knows, are all heterosexual (at least the women). I think you are making assumptions.

Are you talking about animal care knowledge? Who are we talking about? Receptionists? The Vet? Vet tech? Groomer?
I am going to assume it's animal health knowledge. If so, they probably know more than you. It is my experience that the average individual has far less animal knowledge than they think. You are a TD poster, so your overestimation of your own knowledge is probably 10x worse than the average person.

what is your point in all of this anyway?

this board suffers from the belief that country vets are more practical than their urban counterparts. They believe that results in lower cost treatments or a more practical regimen of care. So the default answer is always, "go find a country vet".

In ATL suburbs, my wife worked at one that had 5 locations at it's peak, I've been to the Christmas parties and such, they all seem to be married or trying to get married, I never spotted a lesbian. But there are some gay dudes in the organization. They are apparently excellent groomers.

I started thinking about the demographics that go to vet school. I feel like you've got your far-right rednecks that end up caring for large farm animals, then a bunch of blue-haired hippys that just love dogs. I'm sure the classrooms for vet school have some wildly varying characters in there.

much different than you envision.

Very few of the far-right red neck types. Heavy population of female. My class of 80ish people was 85%+ female. The People most interested in farm animal medicine were women, and Hispanic men with a background of coming from rural areas.

Very few "blue haired" hippy types. Honestly, mostly good ole looking Louisiana type ladies.

As someone who unfortunately has to see equine vets more than I’d like to, I feel like about 85% of them are female.

What's wrong with lesbians? At least they're working and contributing to society.

Vets were unbearable during covid. All the worst people work there. I get angry just thinking about it

I don't think a single one of the guys in my class was interested in equine. You have to really have a passion for equine. Sadly that industry breaks a lot of good people.

Only time I’ve been to a vet was with a cat we had for a few months. The vet was a married, middle-age asian lady. She ran the clinic with her husband.
