The primary problem at Burger King and other fast food establishments is that a majority of the employees feel stuck in a dead-end job with no future. It doesn't matter the person's skin color. If a 30 year old woman has to stand on her feet all day while worrying about feeding her kids and paying the bills, she is not going to have a great attitude about her fellow employees, her bosses,or the people she serves. The attitude makes the difference. Not the color of a person's skin.

If I created a weather forecasting job for some of these fast food employees and gave them health care and a $30 an hour wage, then I would see an instant shift in their attitude (assuming they completed training). Same people, but their attitude and mood would change because they would be happier with life and being able to support themselves.

Life is what you make of it too. Obviously, some low income employees make lemonade out of lemons. Having a great attitude and effort helps your chances for success. Democrats and Republicans battle over this ideaology constantly. I am not advocating paying a McDonald's employee 15 dollars and hour but a person who has opportunities to succeed and actually works to make it happen, will feel better about their work and the people they serve.

A fast food job is not fun but it is not meant to be a lifelong career unless you want to pursue mangagment training or owning a francishe. If people feel no hope in life, they become discouraged and give up. Yet, you have to work at life, if you want to succeed. Developing discipline and a good work ethic will pay off if you are persistent. No one like a grump.

Is it management that encourages this behavior at every Burger King created?

I think Burger King, the corporation, has been flipped several times....they don't have the culture McDonalds or Chick-Fil-A has.....

Cane's is extremely overrated & overpriced.
If you are the worlds biggest fatass maybe. I went last week, got the Caniac, and split it with my wife and we were both full. Was $11 for two people

BK is horrible in Ga. Everything is cooked to order which isn't bad but the wait time is too long. They also have the worst ice I've ever seen. They can fill your cup full of ice, pour in sweet tea, and five minutes later you have luke warm tea. No ice. The only place that this occurs other than BK is Kristal.

McDonald's has clearly established itself in the upper echelon of that segment.

Cane's, Chick Fil A, Starbucks, and even McDonalds employees are much friendlier and vastly more competent.

I don't know if it has always been this way, but McDonald's customer service is pretty good (relatively speaking).

There's one on campus in Lafayette that would be voted worst BK in America, I'm pretty sure of it. I remember having one woman talking to her friend on the phone and saw me walk in, walked over to the counter and told me she was busy and would be back with me in a minute, then walked back to where I could still see her to continue her conversation. They'd frick shite up all of the time, they'd try to charge you for every ketchup packet you requested, any terrible fast food cliche you could think of would go down there. I would only go when they had the stackers for a dollar or whatever deal they'd run.

One day I went in and they had some general manager in there (mid-40s depressing looking white guy wearing a tie) and it was so funny watching them work hard. They called me sir and actually got my order mostly correct.

Panera Bread

Damn, they have the worst commercials. "Soup and sandwich... and clean. Sandwich and clean... and soup."
I gotcha on all of that but I shouldn't have to pay $12.00 for each small sandwich.
