It was always funny when kids used to have ceremonies in the school gym to announce which school they were committing to. Many would say “I’m taking my talents to the University of Auburn.”

LSU was originally "Seminary of Learning of the State of Louisiana"

Only 5 Div 1 football schools do not have "University" in their names:

Georgia Tech
Boston College
the 3 Academies

It is always a trivia question at least once a year it seems.

FBS schools, you mean. There are certainly D-1 FCS that don't.
