Why elites come up with terrible ideas.

This is kind of a mind meld between Andrew Klavan's podcast from a few days ago and my own thoughts.
Elites believe themselves to be intellectually superior to normal people. Therefore if a problem has a solution that is so obvious ordinary people have no problem seeing it the elitist thinks that could not possibly be the true answer. Ordinary people are so stupid they can't see the solution to any problem. Therefore the elitist pretzel ties his brain until he comes up with a solution so preposterous, so ridiculous, and so terrible that no one with common sense (i.e. ordinary people) would ever think of it or propose it as an actual solution if they did.
This is how you get ideas like critical race theory, believing banning fracking and stopping construction of pipelines will be good for energy prices and the economy, wearing masks outside is good for your health, and defunding police will lower crime rates.

Andrew Klavan is incredibly brilliant. His new show format really highlights his wisdom. I rarely listen on friday evenings but I start just about every Monday morning with it.
For those who aren't familiar, Klavan is one of personalities at Ben Shapiro's Daily Wire. His show, while political, is a lot more focused on theology and how it relates to our current political scene and culture.

Elites come up with terrible ideas because they want to remain the elite. Good ideas would have them lose power once people become responsible for themselves.

The water supply is more important than natural gas. Frackers won't even say what chemicals are being pumped underground. I support banning fracking.
The elites who piss me off are the ones who want to force everyone to become vegetarians. Plant based agriculture is ecologically destructive. Grazing ruminants restore the land. Animal fats are the most nourishing food.

"Elites" live in a separate world. They never have to cook their own food or wash their clothes. Someone drives them to where the want to go. They associate only with other "elites". Most of them have never heard of Archie Bunker. They never have to mow their lawns. They believe they are demi gods. They spawn rotten ideas because they have never really had to sweat something like having to get an entry level job in order to survive.
