Do you have a powered mirror? I plugged mine into that via an adapter and didn’t have to run wires to the fuse box or outlet.

I got the blackvue 900s and I love it.

Front and rear dash cam with parking mode. Ran the wires to the fuse box.

I bought a $50 1080p dashcam 5+ years ago, took 5 mins to install and it's sat in the Louisiana summers all this time and it still works. Really dumb not to have one.

neither my wife nor i have had a single accident since a few minor fender benders when we were teenagers.

the freak accident that happened to her (previous page) happened on a very calm road w/ a 35mph limit where literally NOTHING ever happens. she was taking our daughter to school.

through no fault of hers, she ended up in the back of an ambulance and a totalled vehicle. happened in the blink of an eye.

after what we went through, a few hundred bucks to equip all our vehicles with cameras seems like something we should have done years ago.

its not about how careful you are as a driver, there are always idiots doing shite that defies logic. 5 seconds earlier or later and my wife would have been fine.

mercedes is finally offering one as an upgrade but it only works with a handful of vehicle which makes ZERO sense because it just needs power.

Isn't it funny how when they know they're wrong they back off?

Who the hell wants to be recorded in someone’s vehicle or all over their house? No thanks. Privacy is the best.

The dashcams look out of front and rear windows to the road, not inside the vehicles.

Dashcams stay in your vehicle when parked, they do not follow you out of the car and into your house "all over"

Seeing as how you now have forward and rear facing cameras in most new cars, why can't they just have a record feature built in?

That's exactly how a dash cam works!

there are car forums all over the place where people are trying to tap into them. Unfortunately it's a different application so resolution, angle of view and features like gps aren't there so not really feasible.

eta every car i own is getting cameras after that.

I don't blame you. Id get one if I were you as well.

I just think the cost of vehicles and the necessary equipment is ridiculous. If we took alot of these creature comforts out of the vehicles, I think they would get safer as well.

start with the grossly expensive self-parking nonsense

anyone bought a car recently that came with a factory dashcam?

My car has front, rear, and 2 side cameras on each side, along with the ability to save to a USB at any time I press the button to save or honk the horn, or any time someone gets near the car when parked.

I would rather that cars come with a dash cam than a self parking feature. If you cant park a car you should not have a drivers license.

We have been run off the road twice, once by a driver doing an illegal pass, and another who was impaired and was in my lane as he crested a hill. Lucky I wasn't killed the 2nd time.

I would pay for a dashcam.
