Why don't Alabama and Florida get live mascots too?

Alabama could get a group of 3 Indian Elephants, and have a compound like the Audubon or Br zoo.

I'm surprised Florida doesn't have a live alligator. I'm not surprised there's no elephants in Tuscaloosa.

A gator is boring and would be useless. PETA would be all over BAMA for giving an elephant a 5 million dollar home. They rather have some Africans poach him for a Chinese afrodesiac than live in luxury in Tuscaloosa.

I thought Florida had a gator on campus.
Elephants roam. Pretty much any topper of enclosure sucks. I'd be better than a circus cage, but it just doesn't make sense with limited campus space. And if it were just for game days, with an off campus habitat, who would clean the shite off the sidelines?

Alabama used a live mascot for Mobile games through the 1950s. There was a fraternity that used to have one for homecoming. I believe that was banned in the 1980s.
