Seriously. OP does absolutely nothing but hate on this state. He needs to stop being poor so he can go jerk off in Portland.

Can’t handle the truth, baw?

Go back offshore and come home to your fat trailer wife. Hopefully you’ll get paid before your F250 gets repossessed.

I understand what you're trying to say here. The culture is something that should never change. It's what makes it New Orleans.

But are you saying you don't want the education system and road conditions improved?

Some of us don’t enjoy being the laughing stock of the rest of the country. You’re poor and stupid and that’s your prerogative.

Continue being poor and stupid but that doesn’t mean we all have to bury our heads in the sand. Last in the country in education, healthcare, etc doesn’t look good. Sorry you’re too dumb to understand that.

Because of politics?

It's filled with hipsters, I don't care about their politics, but it has evolved into a hipster city. Honestly, personally, I wouldn't want to move anywhere in the north simply because I don't like cold weather, but all cities have their identity and Portland just isn't for me.

First of all, I'm far from poor, however being that you can't afford to move I'd say you should work on that.

Secondly, I know exactly what the condition of my state is. However I don't use every waking second of my life shitting on the place I live. I'm not that miserable of a person.

Thirdly, you need either a psychologist or an arse beating because you come across and a whiney little bitch.

Yeah but you get WAAAAYYYYY better services for your tax money (public schools, transportation, less crime, general cleanliness)

Yep, people in Baton Rouge and New Orleans have to pay a lot for private school.

A lot of cities have shitty inner city schools. That's not necessarily unique to Louisiana. Most people in Texas that send their kids to good public schools live in the suburbs.

I could move to Zachary, AP or Central and send mine to public if I wanted. I just don't want that commute.

I love New Orleans but the problems are much deeper than crime. Crime is a symptom more than a cause, though it’s both.

The real underlying issue is that New Orleans specifically and Louisiana in general are complacent. Ambitious people leave in large numbers, which explains the current state of affairs.

It’s been that way for a while. It just took a long time for it to play out because the area is so beloved and rich in resources.

Truth hurts

So you'd rather just live ignorant to the problems than try to fix them?

I have friends from Houston that acted as if it were rare to go to private school. I don't think they were from suburbs but I am not sure. I know they were in an ISD.

I'm not as familiar with Hou and Atl, but I know there's at least a couple of schools that kids can go to in the urban core, and some of Dallas's best schools are there. The point is whether you live in the city center or burbs in NOLA there isn't a single public school yo send your kids to. Franklin I guess, but you have to get in.

In most urban areas... the only good public schools are selective admission. In New Orleans, Franklin and Lusher are fine. Karr is "ok".

Houston ISD has about a half dozen selective admission schools that are very good... which makes sense considering how many more kids they educate

Better than bitching about someone else bitching. His OP as why doesn't New Orleans have more middle class housing. That's a fair question and not really bitching.

Just go back offshore and tug your dick, it's where you belong.
