My wife drives when we’re in her car. I got to play on my phone and/or be drunk. Both things that are apparently frowned upon while driving.

A heterosexual family that appears to be enjoying themselves and the quality family time they are experiencing.

What if the family is British? Then the dad would be driving.

Sounds like OP is a bitch.

I drive almost exclusively if my wife and I go somewhere together.

I am more comfortable driving and she is more comfortable with me driving.

My brother and his wife are the opposite. She drives almost exclusively. He is kind of a bitch that way.

"Cant handle" is a mischaracterization.

A man is responsible for the safety of his family. You shouldn't passively sit there while someone else drives unless it is for some reason better/safer than you driving.

I mean, if Mrs. Midnight is having to drive me to urgent care because I have pneumonia or whatever, that's fine.

But, I do a double take in real life when I see the "all too common" sight of a "man" letting a woman drive him around.

WTF is up with that?

These commercials, though? I just don't notice them. On the rare occasions when I even see a commercial, my brain takes a break.

man, I do not get that reaction from you baws, I do not think you have any security issues but I think a lot of the young fellers on here do, my wife is a great driver, has great SA, would have made a good fighter pilot, as she likes to say "you drive in the air, I'll drive on the ground," when I drive it's half way around the world and back, 2-3 times a month, that's good enough for me

The biggest and most consistent thing we fight about in my house is when I'm "too drunk" to drive. Even sloshed I'm safer than her, but she still wants to drive. It's infuriating.

Well, I definitely don't. Mrs. Midnight is a good enough driver I trusted her with my children and now trust her with my grandchildren.

I get that some situations are different. But, the way I was raised, the man is expected to do most/all of the driving. My mother was a very strong, dynamic person, but one of her blind spots, pardon the pun, was driving. She was a nervous, tentative driver who hated it as a necessary evil. My dad was a salesman and on the road - all...the...time. He also did all of our leisure and vacation driving.

(ETA: And I'm a teetotaler, baws, clean and sober for over half a century. You guys are right to let the missus drive when you're drunk. So, I assume, she's not drinking and is a sober designated driver?)

I get that some people just love it, and if the spouse is a weak/poor driver it's a safety issue, but otherwise, who cares? my wife drove a school bus for her school when she was 16, rented a forty something RV a few years ago for a summer trip, she drove the hell out of that thing too
