The line is not the only measure of intoxication. Anyone who has lost their physical or mental faculties can also be arrested for DUI. The limit is there to keep idiots who think they are fine from getting behind the wheel.

If you were at a .04 and ran a got into a crash or committed a serious traffic infraction, there is good chance you would be charged with DUI.

The hell in my post makes you think I'm trolling? And texting is just ONE thing. Driving isn't the only thing that kills people.

Then ban cars.

Or go the Germany route. Make it harder to get a license. Get rid of ridiculous speed limits, and if you drink and drive. Lose ur license for life.

I wouldn't have a problem with any of this.

But you are right. We should all be afraid of reauxltide and not the hundreds of thousands of shite drivers.

Man the strawmen and incredibly defensive attitudes are coming out hard today.

3% increase in your chance to kill an innocent person is enough to justify a harsh punishment to me.

So let's find anything that increases your chances if an accident, like driving in the rain, or snow, or at night. And if you've done any of those things, you should get just as harsh of a penalty. They should suspend your license, throw you in jail, make you do community service, and possibly lose your job or prevent you from getting one.

So you want me to go through every possible scenario when someone carelessly puts other people's lives in danger and condemn them individually? Are you kidding?

Considering how poorly structured your argument is, I am considering it as an explanation.

Drinking and driving (and texting and driving) are easily preventable things that put innocent lives at risk.

We all accept some measure of risk when we got on the roads, that is part of life. We also accept risk when we get on an airplane or walk into a building.

I'm not ignoring or minimizing any other dangers besides drunk driving. Drunk driving, however, is something that is essentially 100% within an individual's control. Choosing to put other people's life at risk is incredibly irresponsible. That is why I feel very strongly about the issue.

The fact that people in this thread seem so blase about something that has ruined thousands (if not millions) of families is staggering.

No what's ridiculous is how fricking hypocritical our society is.

You guys are arguing one thing. The rest of us are pointing out just how dangerous numerous other things are. But y'all aren't calling them trashy self centered arse holes that deserve serious punishment.

Just because you don't agree doesn't make the argument a sham.

You sound really fricking defensive about this. Did something hit a vein?

Sorry you aren't willing to just call a fricking cab to get home from a bar. I honestly hope you don't wind up killing someone next time you try it.

Y'all should be glad that I'm such a respectful driver

To be transparent...I think .08 is ridiculous and just a money grab. I actually know for a fact that it's a bullshite money grab. I also think punishments for people who are driving dangerously should be VERY severe. And if you hurt somebody and it's proven to be because you're texting or drinking you should face a long prison sentence.

Putting people's lives in danger while drinking and driving is fricking bullshite and needs to be punished. .08 isn't even close to that for most every person.

I know you think I'm a cock sucker for thinking this. I honestly think you're a piece of shite for your extremely strong stance as well.

Laugh all you want hypocrite. Every time you drive, you put someone's life at risk. You've probably done countless things that could put someone's life at risk.

I'm just poking at people exactly like you. A fricking hypocrite that thinks he's holier than everyone else.

Well the statistics show an increase in causing a wreck at .08. That is a scientifically supported fact.

I am curious what you think makes me a shitty person about wanting to keep innocent people safe from idiot drivers?

I use uber. Last time I called a cab he never showed. I called the dispatcher 5 times. Every time telling me a Duff time. Finally they just hung up on me. I will never call a cab in baton Rouge again.

Sigh** idiot drivers don't have to be drunk.

If you or anyone actually wanted the roads safer, y'all would do a hell of a lot more than put a few checkpoints around LSU campus.

I do not condone drunk driving. I will be picking my gf and her friends up after bcsf, sober.

I have done things that put other people at risk. I have not once in this thread said I have always been the most amazing driver in the world (or even that I have never driven drunk, I have.) I do what I can now to be as safe as possible on the road. It isn't a 100% prevention, but it is something I can do.

I have also seen the impact losing a father or mother or a child has on a family due to drunk driving. Maybe that crash would have happened if the person was at 0.0... Maybe they would have been texting if they were stone cold sober. Regardless though doing something selfish and irresponsible and taking others family member(s) is a horrible horrible thing to do.

Great good for you.

As to idiots, well it's really fricking hard to sort out all the idiots. It is very easy to not get behind the wheel drunk.

Stats show that touching a radio increases wrecks. You're a shite head for not caring about the people who die because others change their radio. Driving with 1 hand is more dangerous than driving with 2. The hell are you in these issues?!

Is 3% enough to frick over people who are being safe? We need to find every instance on earth where an action increases the chances of bad things happen by 3% or more.

You are so short sighted it fricking hurts.

And fwiw, you're probably a good person for wanting people to be safe. You're just blind.
