Why does NOLA allow mobile marijuana trucks to park permanently on public streets?

Dear Concerned Citizen Friends,

I first noticed these instruments of public destruction and individual ruin three years ago. It started with one van parked on the corner near Canal and Baronne. Now on any given day, there can be four or five vans and trucks in that vicinity selling marijuana products.

Surely, in a city with so many parking codes and laws, this violates some statute. And if these mobile monsters who aide in introducing more psychotic breakdowns to a city whose psychiatric services are already taxed have found a loophole, it's time to close it.

Some of these trucks are licensed out of state. They are taking up several public parking spots. They are magnets for a seedy crowd. Innocent pedestrians are accosted with their disgusting advertising that targets our children -- just look at that Scooby Doo advertisement in the picture below, which I have forwarded to Warner Brothers. The cigarette industry was raked over the coals for having a talking camel, which is a far cry from stealing a beloved children's cartoon character and using it to corrupt our youth.

The more I think about it, and I could make a top 10 reasons to get this trash off our streets, the more enraged and impassioned I become. Get this scum off our street at once!

Please contact city officials so our streets can be clean again.

They aren't selling marijuana, just placebo lollipops.

I think they shouldn't be allowed because they scam morons who think they are buying the laced candy.

Why do they let kids and any individual sell beer from ice chests before and after Saints games?

There is one guy with a full bar on a wagon.

Firefighters are underpaid and over worked.

Innocent people are subjected to violent crimes.

flooding on the regular.

Streets are in deplorable conditions.

Pick something more important to the actual citizens of New Orleans if you’re going to contact the city council.

New Orleans has many problems. This one is an easily remedied cancer that is spreading and infecting the innocent. It leads to bigger problems. While the idea of marijuana as a gateway drug is mocked, it is factual. How many of those heroin overdoses would be avoided if people did not start with marijuana? Parking ticket ladies could easily eradicate this blight with a few tickets if it were addressed by their superiors. Tow trucks are next. It would take very little in resources and provide a marked improvement in the quality of our lives.

You don’t know the first thing about what’s “infecting” the innocent or corrupting our streets. You have zero clue what goes on in this city. You May get the attention you’re looking for from other idiots on this board, but I know better.
It’s people like you that live your comfortable life somewhere in your safe neighborhood and have no clue.
At 530am I made an OD on a woman in a one bedroom apartment with 4 kids living in it.
And you’re worried about some fake weed van parked downtown? You’re an idiot and your attention seeking/troll thread is an insult to the people who actually give a frick about important issues in this city.

Good citizen friend,

Like I posted above, the city has bigger issues, of that there is no doubt. But to say because there are bigger issues that all issues, especially those that lead to bigger issues, such as gateway drugs, should go unaddressed makes little sense to me. The city has enough time and apparently enough resources to ticket people parked illegally on the streets. This blight should be no different.

You are obviously overtaxed and I will be writing to encourage a pay raise for our beloved firefighters, as they do incredible work to keep our homes safe. I know it is far more than just literal fires that you do. For that I am grateful and I will continue to push for the city to increase its respect for the work you do.

Sincerely,
TulaneLSU

Okay, I get your an emt, but there has to be a better way of describing finding an oding person than saying "made an od". To the non initiated it sounds like you caused the od.

Are you naive enough to think the meter maids aren’t paid off? Could those vans have protection from the people that are trying to rub you out. How’s that going ? Tell us about the people trying to kill you.

You’re a fricking idiot. Them selling “marijuana” is no different than companies making “moonshine” and selling it in stores.
