Finally had to replace my AC unit a few years ago. You don’t realize how shitty your AC system is until you replace it with a new one

I have two different houses. One with a 4 year old unit and one with 10 year unit. Both Capacitors have gone out this year. Frustrating.

I'm pretty sure in car AC systems, the compressor is typically driven by the engine via a belt and a clutch, which engages when the AC is turned on.
With that said, getting the capacitor on your home AC system change out shouldn't be that expensive.

Try running your home AC for just a couple of hours per day and see if it lasts longer.
