I enjoyed it. Would do again, if it didn't involve moving.

Also, 4/5 of the houses I have already looked had have reeked of smoke. What's the deal? Is a generation dying off of lung cancer and their offspring just selling off their smoke lounges?

Put an offer in a few days ago on a "fixer upper" in a good neighborhood(a foreclosure). It supposedly had another offer. Bank came back not with a counter offer, but "give us your best and highest offer". In other words, "How bad do you want this fricking house?" I blinked and added a few more thousand to the offer. Just waiting now. Should know in a day or two. I fricking hate this. While I'm dicking around on this property, other properties I might want to buy if this falls through are being sold or taken off the market.

It is definitely a seller's market, at least in my price range.

I love it. nothing is more fun than finding a motivated seller and figuring out how motivated he is.

we are trying to build, and the process has taken a year so far... been through 2 builders that we had to get out of deals with for different reasons, and now trying another builder... had a meeting with them friday and sunday to try to figure out if they can do what we want and if they can do it for the price we need...

Yep. Even houses in the 7th Ward and Central City are going for over $100/sq ft.

Didn't get it. Somebody wanted it more than me, apparently, OR, the listing agent has buddy who flips houses and held it for him. Not getting in a bidding war over a fixer upper.

Best option is to build.

Even if you love a house, there will always be a bunch of shite your SO wants to change, which means YOU doing a bunch of shite.

But then you get a lot of builder grade shite that you will want to change anyway.

The price builders charge for "upgrades" is laughable.
