I believe in EV’s if and only if they are cheaper and more convenient than ICE’s.

When you factor in the cost of fuel, repairs & maintenance (which are greater with a ICE vehile), and longevity, they often do come out to be cheaper in the long run.

EVs are far more efficient than traditional vehicles. Advancements in the battery technology will only widen the gap

Can our electric grid sustain running this country's fleet of vehicles on it? That's all I really care about.

Sure there is. Not for me though.

I don't think penny pinchers or poors are ready for EVs yet.

They aren't really buying new cars anyway though.

If there is enough demand there will be upgrades.

Like filling stations and oil refining, they grew as the market did.

Also, if they are built well enough (like teslas)

Funny that you say this as I was looking at a model x today. The doors didn’t align right, the tail light on the passenger side was pushed in and you could see a run in the paint. When the gullwing door was open only a midget could walk straight in, you have to walk around to the side to get in. Overall the quality control on it was terrible for a vehicle starting at $80k. I mean, yeah it’s a cool vehicle and all if you can look past the terrible quality control.

Tesla has good marketing and drivetrain, but their QC needs to come a long way.

Once the novelty wears off people will demand more for the luxury price.

I am neither.

I bought a new as guzzler earlier this year and will more than likely buy a new one for my wife next year.

Put a dent in the power and pockets of OPEC/Saudi/UAB

And if Louisiana got a jump on manufacturing of said electric vehicles, the economic impact could be less severe. I don't hold much hope of us getting ahead of the game.

Everyone has a reason for buying whatever they want.

Virtually every car company is reading the signs and heavily investing in EVs. They know where the demand is going.

I’m ready for cars to drive themselves. Cars talking to each other has got to be safer than all the people I see in traffic texting and weaving in and out of lanes.

When was the last time LA got a jump on anything? You could argue LNG, but I think that is more logistical.

I'm generally in favor of EVs, but procrastinators will be screwed. Running low on gas? There are stations everywhere, and a fill-up only takes a few minutes.

Running low on electricity? Good luck with that. It's going to take a while for charging stations to be ubiquitous. And even when they are, recharging will not be nearly as fast.

Granted, there will likely eventually be better batteries and as solar power panels get cheaper and more efficient, there will be many more options. It's just going to be a while before the masses are ready to change over.

The first one, yes. The second one, not so much.

I was speaking moreso to the battery life vs an engine but yes that is a problem if that's a pervasive issue with Teslas and not an isolated incident

Electric is perfect for procrastinators, you plug in and leave your house with a full tank every morning.

It will be a long while before everyone is capable of changing over.

If you park in a garage at your home or your apartment complex has chargers and they aren't all occupied when you try to charge up. They aren't convenient for everyone.
