Unfortunately, my wife sees it all the time as well.
She always says "it is either step dad or boyfriend" in any case involving kids missing, sexual abuse, physical abuse, etc.

Humans are in fact just another animal so it is more than likely the same type of behavior.
Heard Dr. Laura talk about this 25 years ago on her radio show. Part of what got her in trouble. Those baby mamas don't like hearing having multiple baby daddy's around presents a clear and present and preventable danger. As in, don't go whoring around inviting strange men to live in proximity to kids not their own and there will be no surprises like this.

Crazy is partially inherited and partly a product of nurture (in the Nature vs Nurture debate). We've decided weak genetics, like all life is precious, is to be preserved, even to be glorified. So allowing weak DNA to not only endure but to propagate means weakening the entire population over time.
