Why does race even have to be dragged into this? I live in a pretty mixed neighborhood and i see people of different races doing this.

Only time i ever have a problem with it is when i'm out exercising and they're cooking.

#1, who wants all them people walking through my house to get to the backyard?

#2, it's a block party bro. Everyone is invited.

#3, it is America. Gated communities are available to the socially awkward.

A LONG time ago, we were looking at houses in an affordable area (for us at the time). We didn't know much about it...seemed quiet and lots of retired blue collar older folks we thought based on the houses. Somebody suggested we quit looking during the workday and go back in the evenings. Especially Friday-Sunday evenings. We followed this advice and quickly discovered there was a very large amount of "front yard BBQ-ing" that went on in that neighborhood.

I used to BBQ in my front yard when I lived in a black neighborhood. I used to like to keep an eye on the bus stop and staring motel while i was cooking.

if you're from the south you should know this is a black thing. it's part of their culture

and they're engaging in cultural appropriation. your white privilege is making you ignorant to the injustice that is being perpetrated

A white family that used to live in my neighborhood would do their crawfish boils in the driveway.

Agree. Plus I’d rather be in the back where I can be hot sweaty and slightly buzzed without every neighbor and car driving by.

I grill in my driveway. Tired of leaving my grill on the deck to get ruined by weather. Once I'm done I roll it 5 ft into the garage and it's out of weather.

This was the other night.

Maybe? I'm not black though.

Tell your buddy he's no longer upper middle class. Let him down easy though.

Not a block party. The 20 cars parked all over is proof of that.

Parents would always BBQ in the front and now I do too (all white). I always thought this was normal to BBQ in the front, wave to the neighbors as they walked/drove by, or had a conversation over a beer with one of the neighbors.
