Yeah, I know it's got crime, urban decay, a freeloading underclass, a corrupt government, etc. But so does Baton Rouge. So does Shreveport. So does every city in America of any size (particularly in the east and south). You just gonna spend the rest of your life running away from those things? Eventually there will be nowhere to run.

It's still the best thing this shitty state has going in the eyes of the nation and world. I just guess it makes people who live in places like Prairieville feel good about themselves to talk shite about places where they don't live.

Armed robbery in broad daylight being a common event doesn’t help.

Life is short, why live in a shithole if you have a choice?

Yeah but NOLA leads the way, not to mention, a 30 minute thunderstorm floods it, it’s one good Cat 2 hurricane away from being wiped out again, and taking the statues down didn’t improve anything.

Because it is a shithole

Such a dumb argument, and it’s used so often it’s astounding.

Yes, there is crime everywhere. The AMOUNT of crime compared to other cities it’s size is the issue in New Orleans.

New Orleans has more untapped and wasted potential than any other city in the country. New Orleans COULD be one of the greatest places in the country to live and work. And the people of New Orleans continue to elect idiots that make it worse and worse. That’s my biggest issue with the city.

Best thing Louisiana has going for it is not New Orleans, but the Christian hardworking conservative residents it has that keep the wheels turning like the farmers, the industrial workers, the police officers, the firefighters, etc. It's not welfare queen scum on Nola's streets.

It's the spotlight city of the state, of course it's gonna get more attention than Prairieville.

And between the corruption, the crime, the infrastructure, etc it's easy to shite on.

I think most people want Nola to be great. It's good for the state of Louisiana. It just sucks to see it "underperform".

Or Shreveport, or Alexandria, or Opelousas, or Lake Chuck, But for New Orleans Louisiana is a forgettable fly over state.

You’re right about BR and Shreveport being the same, and you’re also right about not being able to outrun it. What you’re missing however is the fact that we’ve been in a full out retreat mode since the 70’s and it would take a Herculean effort and miracle to get everyone on the same page to not allow your cities to fall into the abyss by leaving it to it’s fate in the first place, rather fighting for it. People’s property values, quality of life, and families are just much more important to them than the city, and I can’t fault them for that.

Truth be known, if we wouldn’t have built slap em up housing developments and erector set strip malls all over the place with very few building codes in place and focused on quality homes, lasting architecture, and sound commercial property and planning that resembled a place we planned on being for a long time to come it may have built a lot more value in people’s minds of those places they deserted in the first place. I mean honestly, why live next to the old wal mart when you can move next to a newer more shinny wal mart down the road? That’s what you’re dealing with.

People like to point out how their particular corrupt backwards location is better than New Orleans.

It's like saying you won a race in the PanAmerica games. Everyone is really proud of you, but you're still seriously lacking.

Places like Prairieville are places where you don’t have to lock your doors at night and put an emphasis on things like public education.

Zero accountability from local government, terrible police force, and citizens who don't care.

Because the criminals kick the fricking doors in.

A couple of weeks ago two guys were found bound up and murdered.

Baton Rouge and Shreveport get dumped on as much as New Orleans on TD.
